Can I ask what y'all wear when biking?

Trying to put together my kit for next year. Never snow biked but little bit of dirt biking. Do you guys wear the same shin guarding boots, chest armor and shoulder pads? Knee pads?

Also, what about airbag backpacks? Looks like they run about 450$ and up. I'm looking at the BCA22 but I may go for a larger one as I want the ability to bring a small paraglider sometimes, although my thought was to strap that to the tunnel anyway.

Seems most wear dirt helmet and goggles, what about street helmets, or snowmobile types?

Same stuff I wear on a sled, even snowmo boots.

Airbag most of the time.

Could do a search on boot threads, some guys run moto boots for the ankle protection, and some claim their pegs tear up snowmo boots.

I haven't had any peg wear, but have bonked my ankle pretty good with a spring hard snow crash.

Hey, Normustitz!
You fly a paraglider eh?
Cool. If I want to fly in the winter,I'll usually take the sled instead of the bike. Just cuz it's easier to
take a passenger on the sled to ride down. I used the bike for flying once this spring but it was soarable so I toplanded and rode down myself.
I carried the glider on my back in its pack.
If we do a big flying trip with more guys we'll use the sleds and tow a skimmer loaded with our wings and gear.
Tow launching with a sled is a blast, too.
Haven't done that with the bike yet, but maybe
next year.
Just one more way to play in the mountains in the winter!

I wear MX boots that are decently insulated and padded, with one wool and one cotton sock. Thin like tight sport insulation with cheap bibs. A layer or two of cotton long sleeve shirts, with a shell that absolutely stops air flow. Women's FXR gloves... A heavy Klim Balaclava. MX helmet, with a pair of snow goggles. I don't have an air bag yet, but carry an old camelback with bladder removed, keep shovel and probe in there, then have a beacon strapped to me under my jacket.

I need to get some waterproofing for my pants as that has worn off on the seat. But for $35 they have been great so far.

If you wear a dirt bike helmet you will want something like a heavy balaclava to redirect your breath.

So no armor at all other than the boots? What other helmet alternative to dirt type are you eluding to?

You can get an affordable snowmobile helmet that has a breath deflector system that channels the air out away from your goggles. If you just wear an MX helmet you need the heavy balaclava that does similar.

Can buy breath deflectors as well, either fit to the helmet, or universal ones that Velcro in. JMO, but I get too hot w a baklava on unless its like below zero, but want/need face protection even at warmer temps.

Basically the same gear as riding a sled, save for some using MX boots and now theres a couple new high $ snowpants with burn guards on them for the pipes.

Mountaineering 101. Never wear cotton in the mountains. Wool or synthetics that insulate and wick away moisture are the only way to go for layers. Then a shell on top. Cotton kills.
