I saw this burned up/ melted sled at Grand Lake last weekend. Not sure if this has already been talked about on this forum, but can anyone tell what it was??

Yah, that's my guess, too. Going with 670, just fwd'd the picture to The Authority, a friend who'll probably be able to tell the VIN. Has to be S-chassis, though.

Huh? A locked-on parking brake will torch a sled? I didn't know those older summits even had parking brakes

He's almost certainly right - it is scary what he got from that picture.
"Definitely S chassis with the hood supports that are still there, but not a 670. Two piece yellow cylinder head, so that is a 500. RAVEs, so that’s 1998-2000. Has a sway bar, so not a Summit 500. Electric start, so not a Formula 500 L/C or MXZ 500 LC. I’m going with a 1998 or 1999 Grand Touring 500. Flex skis, so that counts out 1998. I say 1999 Grand Touring 500. "

On the newer ones, absolutely. My trailing arm crapcans would not - they'd notch a belt if you tried to drive away with the p-brake on.
Revs and newer WILL move with the parking brake on, they catch on fire a LOT. I asked a friend to move my 800 ETEC recently, I could HEAR the brake on, got attention before it was an issue, but people who don't know what it SHOULD feel like just give it more gas, which generates a ton of heat, which eventually turns to smoke.
Geez, I would have thought it would smoke the belt before it burned up the sled...
Yeah, no kidding. I've seen PLENTY of newer sleds with left sides melted at my local dealer. Some get out of it with new brake pads and some plastic/wires, others wind up recyclable.

The owner. Was talking to one of the FS guys about a carcass out in the woods - slimy bastards filed/sanded the VIN off the tunnel.
Geez, if my sled melted like that I'd drag it down to Denver and sell it at the artwalk for $5k
