Can-Am Renegade

Looking at buying a used 800 Renegade with 250 miles on it. It looks like its in good shape. I rode it about 3 miles and dayamn does it run!!

I need some quick opinions on these bikes though. How do they hold up?

Thanks for the help.

Heard the frames brake unless an extra skid plate is added
Other than that...they rock

My brother runs a rental outfit and they have 4 different brands (Cat, Polaris, Yamaha, and Can Am) that all get lots of miles. He says the Can-Am is great until about 800-1000 miles. After that they cant keep them together. They all (7 of them) have had motor issues. He says a bigger problem is every bolt comes loose and causes all kinds of problems. Mabey they have a vibration issue?? I rode one a day when he needed help with a tour and was impressed with the power though.

All tours are guided so the renters don't get to wild on them so I don't think it's because of excess abuse.

I have one and love it. It has 500 kliks so far and no problems. I have not heard of the problems that cpa is talking about yet. I have a sled/quad repair shop and don't work on too many Can am's so far. The Renegade is just a lighter version of the Outlander and I know lots of guys with lot's of miles on those with very little trouble. I ride with two other Renegades as well and they have had no trouble so far either. You will be hard pressed to a machine that works as good in the mud, rides as good and handles as good as a Renegade. My $.02 is...........I love mine and wouldn't have any thing else. I work on lot's of Honda's here at the shop as well. Honda's are a good machine but not as good as they were a few years ago.

That's what my wife keeps sayin, she swears by her Rubicon. They just don't ride the greatest to me. But can't argue their reliability.

Thanks for the info CPA. I hate to spend top coin on a bike until I have some real life opinions on them.

have 1 99 forman s 450 4x4 with 13000miles and a 04 (i think) forman s 450 4x4 with 5000 on it. they both get used for hauling moose, deer, bear, wood, picker, etc... none of the engines have been touched. the 04 tows daily 2-3 cords at a time of popular in the bush and has never let us down. nice ride also even tho its not like the other atvs for suspension
