Camoplast X3 design

I'm installing a camo X3 on my nypex and I was wondering why the heck camoplast built these tracks with these little lugs (pictured). They get in the way and don't allow the avid drivers to seat properly. I'm cutting them off at each window per a recommendation, but I was just curious what their purpose is?

thanks

The reason those drive tabs are smaller was to clear the diamond drive on the Arctic Cat sleds. All of the chaincase machines clear just fine with regular sized tabs, but there was a design change around 2007 in order to work with the diamond drive.

If your drivers are timed and installed correctly they should not affect them at all.

avid has a new style driver that is designed to work with that track, but we cut them off on my sons sled as well

If you have the old style avids would trimming the nubs off be detrimental to track longevity or performance in any way? I did it with a camo extreme 2.5" and I'm about to do it again and want to make sure it won't hurt anything.
