TRACKSUSA sold me a 162 16 inch wide X3 and then cut it down to 15 inch wide for free! This is even better yet as the 15 inch wide has inset paddles so the 15 is really like a 14 on the paddles. Having a 16 cut down the paddles are a full 15 wide.

Stock track in background for comparison.

The 15" and 16" wide camo X3 have the same width paddles, the 16's just have extra belting on the sides. both tracks padles are 14.25" across at the base. So betting they sold you a 15 wide, hence the "free cut". staring at them side by side all the 16 wide has is an extra little footprint on the side. sucks for end users who want a full 16 wide, but only having one mold with little extension "wings" is a lot nicer for tooling costs then two fully different molds.

I agree. I think its dumb you have to step up to a 174" or step down to a 156" to get a 2 ply track.

Not exactly true on the cutting part though. They are sold out of 15", but have 16" tracks in stock. They are $50 more. They cut about any track you want for a snow bike application.

I've heard the idea behind the inset lug, is that when it builds snow and ice on the inside of the tunnel, the lug doesn't have to drag down it.

ah perfect, i guess cutting and selling them basically ends you with the same part and allows sales to keep rocking, so good idea on their part.

I just was more making a note of the fact that the lugs ARE the same width, you dont get a full 15 wide paddle ever.

Sorry about your track mine is 14.5 across the base on the paddles, could you be wrong once again? Not sure why you cannot see in the picture that the track has been cut down. Do you really run a shop??

He was off a 1/4" inch, you were off a 1/2" and you've got it sitting in front of you! Do you really know how to read a tape measure?

I think everybody but you and him knew I meant a full 15 as in a regular 15 inch track and paddle width. I didn't contradict anyone and be wrong.

But you can explain how he couldn't see the track was cut though if you think he needs help.

Constant trolling and bull**** seem to be the norm here even for guys with shops who should keep there mouths shut as to not hurt there business. Some of us are here for facts and it really gets old when "experts" spout off calling people stupid when you can easily see how little they really know (like not being able to tell a cut track from a stock one)

You keep doing pavement holeshots, he will continue to build sleds. He's forgotten more than you think you know. You actually amuse me. You run around this forum spouting off your..... daily, most of which is you just making sure people know what sleds you've owned and what you own now. Little of what you babble about are these "facts" that you say you're looking for.

At any rate, this is the interwebs, people can/will say as they wish.

Carry on

Ill be honest, it is definately a cut down track, I didnt look to closely at first, but sounds like them being out of 16 wide tracks is the reason. not really my concern with the post.

as for 14.5 vs 14.25 depends how close to the base you are measuring, regardless, they are both the same, I have a 15 wide and 16 wide X3 sitting 10' from my computer. I can also assure you the lug width is the same on both. I just snapped pics of them if you want physical evidence. its pretty obvious on the 16 where the extra half inch of flat is on the sides.

These posts were less to troll and more just informative for everyone so they dont start ordering cut down 16 wide tracks to try and get a "true 15 wide" but I would be lying if i dont enjoy a little bit of harassment.

I agree, SW the last few years has turned into a bar pissing contest. Each year its less informative and more drama, granted summer seems to be worse!

I guess guys will have to continue to use other forums for true technical info!

excuse me for helping inform others that you were slightly misled. I was much more polite in this thread then my other responses to you and you still get butthurt. I am trying to save guys the $100 cut fee when in reality they would be getting the same track... just not cut up.

Speaking of facts, the cut from 16 to 15 was free. My other post points out that the X3 is sold out until September according to the vendor, ergo the cut 16. Exactly what are you saving people from?

I am going through your area on vacation the last week in August if you feel like pushing this, private message me your name and we can discuss it in person.

And yes turbo800 it seems the tech info needs to go to that other site. No need for me to waste my time here when it is obviously not wanted or needed.

Trolls win, I am an observer now.

He's got one of those special X3's with the full width 15" paddles on the "other" site as well. Must be made special for Assfault burnouts.......

Speaking of facts, the cut from 16 to 15 was free NORMALLY EVERYONE PAYS $100, you got lucky, pat yourself on the back. My other post points out that the X3 is sold out until September according to the vendorOther vendors have them in stock, ergo the cut 16. Exactly what are you saving people from?from thinking they can get a 16 cut to 15 and get a different width paddle then just the standard 15

my cell number is posted in every message I type, and my adress and name are easy to find using google.

I have no interest in some sort of tedious internet vendetta, or personal "discussions" your interested. I am merely here to help keep some of basic concepts straight regarding the differences. I had no problem admitting that i was wrong in my initial post regarding the track wasn't cut, it was and the logic behind why tracks USA cut you one makes total sense given their backorder, but again, you still seem upset that I am making sure people understand there is no difference in a 15" or a 16" cut down, regardless of cost, whatever, I dont want people chasing some mystery cut down track. Although tracks USA was very straight and honest with you, I know many vendors would be more then happy to cut a 16 down to a 15 for a guy, sell them the more expensive track and make $$ cutting when the 15 would be the same, not a vendetta against you, just trying to avoid people wasting money.
