California Snow

Brett or DSK on westcoastsledders.com lives in Kingvale Ca. He has 170 inches on the ground and looks like another five feet or so in the next five days!! WAHOO
Cali is going off this winter

That pic is just west of Kirkood ski resort. They have 650 inches as of today and its dumpin!!
I guess it doesn't matter though we all surf in CALI:face-icon-small-coo

Son, me thinks that we should be able to ride until late May??!! Can only hope!! love all that snow! Reminds me of the time I logged by Mammoth Lakes one winter, snow over the top of the cab of the truck and felt like I driving in a tunnel.

What area is this? Truckee or Mammoth or....? I don't know my Cali geography that well.

That's crazy that it would only hold out for a few more weeks.

We are at about 94" on the level at Lolo Pass here in Montana and it will hold out until early June.
We've got 145" at HooDoo in Western Montana and we'll likely get to ride EARLY July this year.

closer to Truckee...

Snow doesn't come as often in California...but when it does it comes in feet not inches

That pic is from an area that slides over the rode...so it is much deeper than anywhere else...still impressive!

That is a silly statement, it snows a lot in the Sierra, hence all the ski areas. Now you are correct it doesn't snow in Sacramento, but having lived in Tahoe for 15 years, I can tell you for a fact it pukes snow up here. This winter has been big though.

Now that being said here is part of the weather forecast for tomorrow, thought it was interesting.

In fact...the snow in the Sierra could be exceptionally heavy with many models showing 0.75 inches of liquid equivalent in 6 hours Thursday afternoon. In fact...the sref even has a notable chance of 1 inch of liquid
equivalent in the High Sierra Thursday afternoon. We could very
well see up to 12 inches of snowfall in the High Sierra in a 6 hour
period Thursday afternoon and early evening.

2" an hour is dumping.

Saw this pretty awesome picture taken near Kirkwood Mountain Resort on HWY 88 here in California.

Figured it would be fun to share!

One of my least favorite roads to drive. Real scary when
the only thing holding back a 2000ft or more slide path is a 25ft wall of snow
that has been cut through with a blower.:scared:

Nothing silly about that statement. You guys don't typically get the weekly storms the Rockies do.
Plus your January into early feb saw very little snow at all. In fact it wasn't until mid to Late Feb that it started to pile up again. (in feet not inches)
And now here you are getting hammered again after another dry spell....(dumping feet not inches)

Reading comprehension at its finest....

Do they even have mountains in California? I thought it was all beaches, starbucks and gay bars? :face-icon-small-con

I can see your point, but it all about the what winter you are talking about, I remember 97-98 and 04-05, where we got a storm once a week, however we do measure our snow in feet not inches. This winter it seems to come in bunches, which is a double edged sword, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. However making blanket statements like it doesn't snow that often is wrong, maybe a little writing comprehension is in order.

sweet photo...do you have a larger one you could post so I can swipe it for background?

I really wish I did, it was just a picture a friend of mine posted on Facebook.

As far as the snow depth in California, we have some of the deepest snow in the US. Unfortunately our snow comes in HUGE waves it seems and rarely usually don't a lot of pow weekends. :face-icon-small-sad A lot of of the ski parks here are measuring around 200 inches on the ground around 7,000 ft elevations

Maybe taking your own advise is in order.:face-icon-small-win
