Cable pull cord?

Looks like it is what it is. I like the idea, havent seen that before. Downside is it would tear up consoles way faster than rope when pulled to the side. I like the idea of it not breaking.

I dunno about the tying in a knot at the recoil with that steel braid..

I prefer to have to change my recoil rope every season, just forces me to service my recoil every season too, otherwise you will end up on the hill with a worn out starter..

To ensure a good quality long lasting rope, I use a high end 5mm climbing rope... but still check the recoil, for wear and tear every summer.

Thanks for the quick comments. I am ordering parts tonight and having them overnighted.

I am going to go ahead and order it. Its $2 and if it breaks or don't work its only $2. Granted i will be pissed off because i have to pull the engine to get in there. That’s another reason why i don't want to have to replace it. I ride ALOT so i have to replace rope like 2-3 times a year. Also, i haven't even ridden the thing ever and the rope broke. Granted it was mostly my fault because i need to make a new bracket.

My console is an aluminum plate that i made. I will bolt a steal ring on it so it doesn’t chew everything up if it works.

I would rather just wait for the whole recoil system to fail. There are other ways to start a sled.
:D

u kno never to ride a big block poo with a broke recoil right?

rope breaks flys around in housing knocks off water pump belt and boom there goes ur motor

Use the new spectra rope that they are using for winch cables these days. The stuff will last for many years even on the 800 poo's. Our dealer is finally going to cut up winch cables into starter rope lengths and sell it this way.

Yes i do and if you are carefull you can get back to the truck just fine.

I wouldn't use the cable if I were you. Can't remember for sure but doesn't your BB 800 have a plastic sheave in the recoil for the rope? Cable could eat that up pretty fast.

The cable is for some of the real old school sleds. I used to have a 73 scorpion 440 that had a cable for a starter rope.

the water pump belt also drives your oil pump so that is the real danger.

My only concern with the metal recoil rope is that, when the temperature drops, it is going to get a little stiff. Your rewind spring may not be strong enough to pull it back.

I mix my fuel. There is no room for an oil pump in that chassis.

Hirth, Sachs, Kohler used cable, just to name a few. That particular one is a replacement for an old JLO Rockwell engine. I personally wouldn't use it on one of todays sleds. Too many plastic bits to chew up.

I got some stuff from someone on here, it is red and is basically bulletproff. wish I could remember what it is.

Just get some climbing rope of the same diam. from REI... The stuff is strong! They love it when you come in asking for shnit for sleds. The last guy nearly lost his dreadlocks when he asked me what I was using it for.

cable and plastic sheaves,,no i dont think so,,the phantom rope is the gear man,i have polaris for a second sled and i broke mine the first ride i had on it too,,must be a factory installed thingy:D

Don't do it. I had the pawl catch once and it sucked the rope inside breaking the handle. The last thing you want is a cable weed wacker inside destrying your stator, pickup and recoil assembly.
