cabelas drops there satisfaction guarentee in september

well I buy a boat load of stuff from them, but today as I asked about the warranty on my new $500 meat grinder I was told 90 days.......hmm? I said "that is the same as the $100 cheaper referbished one"......yup. so to stop folks from returning the shoes they walked the soles out of they are going to a flat 90 days. great, so the ice auger I got for my june b-day is not covered, or the waders I recieved for a christmas gift.....

I always felt there stuff was almost as good as the real name stuff and the price was close so I would go cabelas and live on the warranty.......days of the past.

I hope everyone grabs there reciept and tells big jim how they feel.

I got a bunch of mail order stuff from Cabela's last year and the majority of it was Made in China and crappy quality. Medium size shirts were tiny, material was extremely thin and see-through (course my husband likes that), tags falling off, decals not withstanding washing, etc. A few things were decent quality, but you have to know the label, like Woolrich or North Face.

Good thing I got the stuff 50 to 70% off. Then they charged an outrageous shipping fee. I wouldn't buy anything unless it was over half off anymore.

Just got 2 belts last wk. @30$ a piece and wore one 4 days and started to come apart, planned to return it mon. and exchange for another style, think I'll take a refund(minus the return shipping charge of 7.50:mad:)instead and just start wearing a rope, worked for Jethro.

I bought two pair of shoes last winter both sarted falling apart this summer, they sent me two new pair and no shipping cost.
They were both Cabelas brand, quality not !!!

I quit buying North Face Yeeaaaars ago when I found out how much money they pour into the Greeny agenda, ie: Sierra club, Rainbow Warriors, etc. They definately do not agree with our sport. Boner Out!

Thank you for telling me!!!! Yikes, Blech, Gaaak, Crap, Ptewy. Since Cabela's was pro hunting and they sell snowmobile stuff it didn't even occur to me they'd sell Greenie crap. What can I do for penance?????? :rose:

Teach tree huggers that the best thing they can do for their carbon footprint is kill themselves.

I will have to admit that up until this change in September Cabelas has really gone the extra mile for me, which is why I have always made a point to return and make purchases.

For example, I got a pair of the 12x50 euro binos (cabelas brand) for $899 and used them for two years. I was unhappy with them due to the high power and not being able to hold them still enough. I took them back not expecting them to do anything for me but thought I would ask. I told them there was nothing wrong with them, but I simply was not happy with them. The gave me $800 credit and I used it to buy a pair of Leica geovids w/rangefinder for $1950 ($1600 after $350 mail in rebate). That is exceptional. Again took in a rangefinder that started having issues after a year and they traded it straight out, no questions asked. I can go on and on.

I think I will still continue to support them as much as possible even with the change coming due to the many times they have supported me. However, I think I will be real careful with my purchases and make sure the manufacturer has a good warranty.

I have been treated well by them myself, I had a tent that had a lantern fall from the clip in the middle.....not that it was made for a lantern. I asked about a repair kit for it.......they sent me a new tent. moves like that have kept me going back. I will now be more inclined to buy from the local guys that sell name brand goods for similar prices if I don't have the warranty to steer me to cabelas. the warranty thing has got to be good news for the guys cabelas almost put out of business here in my area.

I have known Cabela's well and I have relatives who live near Sydney ( Home store ). I have also bought boatloads of stuff from them and I have always been treated more than fairly. Last Christmas the post office handed my package over the counter to someone else. Cabela's replaced it even when I told them I didn't think they should. I never liked their casual clothes especially, you have to know what you are buying. I also know that their old policy has led a lot of people to crap all over them, but I am sure that everyone in the future will find that if you treat them well, they will treat you more than fairly just like always.

High Country on Huntingwa? Saw this there too.

Downhill

I used to work for Cabela's before they went public trading. Was the best company to work for in my eyes. When they went public went down hill bad.

This is sad news.

I have always bought the Cabela’s Alaskan guide items because the quality was great and if I ever had a problem they would stand behind that. It makes me wonder if they will still stand behind any products that were sold before this news. I may have to e-mail Jim about this! :D

Just found out;
I talked with a Rep from Cabela’s and nothing is changing on the warranty of Cabela’s branded items. They still will have a 100% lifetime warranty against defects like they always have on clothes and footwear. They just changed the return process and the “Satisfaction guarantee” because they were getting screwed over on a lot of “other brands” or people just using items for months and then returning them. So with that said I will still be a big Cabela’s customer!!!

Not true. at least not for me.
just tried to return pair of cabelas brand Gor-Tex bibs, two years old worn one season. they leak in the seat area. they said over a year old is off warranty and suggested washing them in some $20 soap. or call GOR-TEX.
not happy
tag says "made in china" junk!!!

They buy private land, and make it no hunting. People that buy from crapbellas are supporting no hunting. Except for their elite people. Purchase your stuff from other sporting goods stores.
