Bike tipped over in the snow and used the snow binge on the bark buster and the fricken bar bent at the weld, second day on my sons bike it fell over in the trailer and bent those bars too WTF!!! the bars have not been aneeled properly at the weld joints, will call them in the next few days, in the mean time stock bars will go on, never ever bent the stock KTM bars??

My bike fell over in the garage and yep, bent! Pissed to say the least...what does a guy do??

have not seen those bars, where are the welded?

I've mentioned it to Kevin @ C3. Response and solution will be coming for sure, these guys stand behind their products.

Welding tempered aluminum leaves the base metal stressed and the heat affected zone is weakened.

Assuming they are 6061 T6 which is weldable (unlike 7075-T6)
There still begs the question. Are the bars post weld heat treated? (They hopefully are)

The 6061 T6 is weaker than 7075 T6 for sure.

Can't weld heat treated aluminium you end up with roughly 1/3 of the strength once you take out the heat treatment by heating them to much in the welding process. Drill and tap stock bars no problem. I seriously doubt that anyone would buy just a few non treaded bars weld them and the send them back for heat treatment, the numbers are just not there to make money on that for such limited runs unless they buy them from China:face-icon-small-dis

PICS?!

The Raze aren't welded. Drilled and tapped, plugged in the middle where they sealed between sides. They're more expensive, but it's definitely cheaper than buying a set of C3 bars first, then breaking them. I'm bummed the C3 isn't built well, I has hoping for a cheaper setup for my XR650R so I could commute on it more days of the year.

The Raze bars are built in a similar way to how guys are doing the DIY setups, but they have really nice lines running up to the bars.

Been in touch with Kevin at C3 and he is taking care of me great to do business with a stand up company like C3 thanks again Kevin

Drill a hole in a tube under stress... it will bend easier than before.

Will heated bars will bend more then easily than standard bars... yes.. always!!
Just the action of drilling a hole weakens the structure. What you do after you drill... may weaken it more or slightly strengthen it - argue about welding here...______...

I'm more worried about cracking / loosing coolant... being able to re-route the by-pass hose on the trail is important, this is quick and easy with C3 and no tools required.

So far so good on quite a few C3 bars - including on rental bikes - we haven't bent bars but risers have shifted on rubber mounts. We have bent riser bolts but bars were still ok... that said I haven't had bikes impact hard concrete floor or trailer deck or any similar sharp sudden impacts.. just people clipping trees... lots of trees!

I've had my bike fall over a couple of times in the driveway and parking lots and hit asphalt real hard without bending or breaking my Raze bars. Just saying.

Mine fell over hard on trailer floor, garage and out riding with Raze bars and no bend here either. Brothers did same with Raze and nothing either! I really thought they would be bent. Worth the money! C3 has the best T-Stat on the market, hands down!
