Bwear or Tek Vest

Thread Rating

I bought a bwear this year from F-bomb at the Utah Snow Show. I've ridden a half dozen times with it now. It took some getting used to from a warmth standpoint, I had to back off on the layers a bit.

I really like it. I haven't "needed" it yet, but knowing me I will before the season is over.

I will echo that the Tek-Vests run a little on the large side. Most clothes I wear are XL, so I figured an XL vest. I have it as small as it will go and it just barely works. I haven't ridden without it since I got it last year. You hardly know you have it on. I did have to buy a new Klim jacket because my old jacket was a little too snug with the vest. That was a good thing :-)

I have both and, for me, the TekVest fits better. I would encourage you to find a place that sells both so that you can try them on.

I won't ride without my B-Wear. Super comfortable, fits well even with my pack, don't know I've got it on after about 5 minutes.

As mentioned, you will have to adjust the layers you wear. I wear a microfleece undershirt, the B-Wear and my old Rheima Coat....always warm as toast.

I have never worn the Tek-Veest so I can't compare, but would echo the comment of trying both on.

Good Luck! Bagger

Always remember that there are only two vests currently in production that compare in the ultimate of protection and that is the BWEAR vs TEKVEST Pro model. Compare weight, price, flexibility, arm articulation, shoulder fit, size adjustibility of these two products and BWEAR always stands out. (remember we are talking about the pro model not the sport or klim ect ect)

There are definately different products available (vests with thin foam pads, apparel with sewn in foam, plastic shield with foam base over vitals ect ect) marketed/sold as protective riding devices. Many of these products are far more comfortable, less bulky, and also retain less rider heat. They are better then nothing but a long ways from adequate in the event of major injury inducing trauma. You the consumer just need to decide at what level of protection that you require and at what level do you sacrefice protection for comfort.

I've been in TEK pro or BWEAR all of my racing and riding life. Both have saved me from certain serious injury and quite probably death. I sacrefice comfort every time I free ride by wearing a quality vest and a heavy pack...but when I eat it (which happens quite frequently) I get to come back for more the next day! Will you? Hope so...I had to take a year off with injury and it was brutal both financially and emotionally. The constant memory/thought of that makes strapping on a vest and pack pretty easy to deal with.

Thanks guys. :beer;I bought a Tekvest today. I'm almost healed enough to go riding!:((had a couple incidents with the handle bars and bruised some ribs:o.. damn Apex!):eek: I like the way the vest hugs your body(feels like it will protect the vital parts). I took the pads out of my jacket and the vest really helps with supporting the back pack. Feels almost like no pack at all!:beer;

Pictures Please....

I'd like to see some decent pictures of the Bwear (and Tek Vest, for that matter)....

The Bwear website is lacking in the picture category and I'd like to get a better look at how it's made, what the materials are like, how it adjusts, etc....

Tekvest freestyle, with arm guards. Won't ride without it.

Don't even notice it's on till you need it

I wear the B-wear vest. I wore it on two trips this year - and it saved me a couple of times in those flat light conditions from catching the bars too hard in the chest. I know if I wasn't wearing it I would have had the wind knocked out of my pretty bad. The only complaint I have is the neck opening is a little tight and rubbed the sides of my neck - a tall necked shirt solved the problem. Also, the shoulders rub a little but the plastic is pretty flexible there - I formed it some and had no problems since. Except the neck I have only good things to say about the vest.

My next buy will be some extreme bibs (pants w/suspenders) as I was pretty warm with the vest on.

I've got a tekvest and like it.Definitely had to layer down my clothing after wearing it the first time. Now wear just a thermax top ,tekvest, balaclava and my Reima jacket, keeps me comfy down to single digits.Rubs a little at my shoulders when I wear a pack but new trunk bag should take care of that.
