Buying a used sled

I am new to the sport and curious what I should check before buying a used sled. Is there a way to see if the piston is scored by looking in the exhaust port? Would it be worth having the cylinder looked at with a bore scope? Just curious what to look for when buying used.

if you have a bore scope then ya id do both pull a power valve and stick the bore scope down there do a comp test if the guy dont mind i think it would bother me but thats just me i dont like spending that much time doing a transaction look around the foot pockets for bends in the tunnel look under it to see whats been hit if its a newer cat ask if the dd has been serviced look and see if the engine compartment has been cleaned some guys dont care about there stuff jmho

Just give everything a good look over, bring somebody with you that knows what to look for. Ask lots of questions but be polite about it. Ask about maintenance and upkeep. Do a compression test. much faster than a bore scope and not quite as "invasive". As a seller I personally don't want to "screw" anybody over and deal with a upset buyer so try to get a feel if the guy/girl who is selling is being honest or comes across as a stand up person. Good luck with your purchase.
