Buying A New Sled. Cat of course but M8 snopro or HCR?

Getting A New Cat Had a 05 M7 and i loved that thing but want to upgrade and i like that white snopro. then i seen the HCR and It has a little more doo dads on it but i was going to put a boss on that sno pro anyway and lighter components but i dunno might be smarter to get HCR. Any Info to help me decide? O and I will be putting a Turbo on this sled so Boondockers Or Twisted Turbos in Utah.

Ive got a buddy whos a Cat dealer, he even said the hcr is not worth what they are charging for it. Get the Sno pro and put your own mods on it.
Awesome sled BTW.

Get the snopro unless you plan on doing hillcross. The HCR has a super wide ski stance and harder track which = suckage in the mountains.

yeah, its just a sales gimick really that tricks people, the snopro is the way to go for the hills, and i mean the ones with pow, not rutted up race courses

there is a pretty good HCR review thread in the AC forum.. i'd read that before you make a decision. either way both sleds are sick

Go with the Sno Pro. Unless you're afraid of getting lost, in which case that bright green sled will be easy to find! lol. Or I guess if you want to be one of the proud, few 500 owners of the HCR, that's anothe reason to get it... but for the money, the Sno Pro probably is the better deal. It's a great sled by itself. And putting a turbo in it... personal opinion, not a great idea. The usual mods to lighten it up and add a few horsepower (can, y-pipe, Jaws twin-pipes, 925 Big Bore kit) change it enough that it's hard to keep the front end down!

I had the same question and got the 162 Sno pro if your going to add a turbo you will probably want / need the longer track. I think it would be cheaper to add the wide front end if you want it than to swap the rear suspension and track.

yeah thats what i thought it was a big gimic. for the suspension i wanted to throw a m10 under it to lighten it up and im not sure for the turbo. and i hear if you put that SLP Can & Pipe set up W/ some clutching adjusments i heard it rips pretty good.

Fwiw I would guess the m-series skid is probally lighter and a little more fun than the m10 in a stock application.

The HCR is designed for a different riding style. If you like to jump as much as tear up powder, the HCR is the better bet. Take an honest look at what you like to do when you are riding and the answer will be pretty clear to you. These new sleds like the HCR, Assault, and XP Hillclimb are going to get more and more popular when people realize that you can beat on them more w/o as much wear and tear.

The HCR is for racing , not for the average rider . The track is alot harder so its not as good for the deep. The 162 Sno Pro would be my choice .

I have a Twisted kit on my M8 , and will never ride another day without boost . People who think a big bore will come close to a turbo are wrong .

Its hard to describe , lets just say i use my brakes alot when climbing a hill. There is nothing like it , just thinking about it makes me smile . I have not rode with any new boondocker sleds , to be fair . So i cant really tell you to much about those .

I really like my sled though. I would call Shain he is a good guy to work with .:beer;

for the Turbo contact Jared at Boondockers - they are very impressive and always run great. We got a chance to ride one a few times last year and it was impressive, great people at Boondockers.

I was talking with the owner of a HCR the other day and he mentioned that with the wide front end, it is hard to side hill with, he's been working with ski stance and different ski's as well to try and get it to a happy medium. ANyway it does not sound like he is a happy camper with the handling.

HCR is a very sweet sled. the track and sled is amazing in the deep. you'll be happy with a sno pro or hcr either way. sick kit

today on the HCR -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVh5rWIr2qY [HD]

huh

Why does everyone think the ski stance is so wide on the hcr and say it dosen't sidehill good? Mine lays right over and sidehills great. I got the stance at 42', and it handles great. I pondered if the adds on were worth the extra money, and it took me 2 seconds to tell the dealer to load her up.

Hcr

I am an owner of an M8 HCR with the Twisted Pump Gas Kit set-up. Per my experience, the HCR offers the whole package. This sled is 10-15 pds lighter than any M8 on the market including the M8 Snopro. It is light and is easy to manuever both climbing and boondocking alike. In reference to the track stiffness, my track/lugs have loosened up tremendously and is awesome both in powder and hillclimbing. This track really brings the sled to a floating position on the snow. Best track I have ridden with. Ski stance..move both the spacers to the outside of the ski and your ski stance will be 41' wide which is only 2' wider than a stock stance. I have had no problems sidehilling this sled. My experience with the HCR has been awesome and the Twisted Pump Gas kit is flawless. To date I have had no boggs or turbo lag in any situation. I recommend this kit.

horrible video.. i lasted for 3 minutes, and i am never going to get them back!
