Hi,

I currently own a 06 RMK 700.
I am looking at these sleds:

2007/08 RMK 600 155 / 144 (Both carbed and cfi)
2008 Dragon 700 CFI 155

What would you guys go for? Wich is most reliable?

600 carbed / 600 cfi / 700 cfi.

Is there a big difference performace wise between these sleds?

Opinions? Bring it! :face-icon-small-hap

I own an 07 600 carb and an 08 800. They are both a ton of fun to ride, but since most of our riding is at 10,000 feet, the 800 gets the nod. My 800 has not been reliable, but I was able to pin the issue down to a bad fuel filter that was causing it to go lean on long pulls.

Love my 600's, won't mind a 700 if I could afford it. The 600's do what I want them to do and do it well, and haven't left me stranded. Just got to ask yourself if you'd like 120hp stock or 135-140 stock. Most "macho" guys won't admit to riding the 600's.

A friend of mine has a 07 600 and i think its a great sled. His is a 144",
but i would prefer a 155" I think.

Any known issues on any of these engines?

600/700 ..

I am very fond of my '06 600 HO SB/RMK and I will experiance the 600cfi world this winter (bought for the I Dog trail ride vs. deep snow riding), so I have no emperical comments on that engine yet. I my world, the 600's allow me to use all the throttle all the time. My riding buddy picked up a 700cfi RMK last season and loves it. We both agree that the 700 is probally the ideal engine size for our needs. So the 700cfi will be my answer to you, you will not regret the choice.

I think ther 600 engine is the most reliable engine out there today for a 2 stroke.

I looked at buying one and was looking at the 600 over the 700. Cause it is my understanding you can put 800 jugs pistons on the sled with little or no mods. So when you want more power go with the bigger jugs.

Also the 600 power plant will easily last 6,000 - 8,000 miles with no major issues.

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, reliability is important to me.
Im tired of engine burn downs every season.
So maybe i should go for a 4 stroke.

But the IQ, i just love it.

It has come to my understanding that the 600 is the most reliable out there.

Anyone know anything about the 600 cfi reliability compared to the carbed version?

07 Carb'd 600 and then drop a Carl's Cycle 660 in it. There were only two times that I can think of that my 660 didn't have enough power, and I still made it work. It just took a little more effort. I had to do a little more switchbacking back and forth across the hill to get up it, whereas the "big boys" were just running straight up it. The second day on that hill I had no problem since there had been a path beaten in under the 2' of fresh :D

my 08 700 rmk has 3000 miles on it trouble free.....i would suggest this sled to get, has the new spindles and new seat, very light and great power

its such a great sled they brought i back by popular demand for 2010 after they were not going to do so, only different between the 08-2010 is really the new front the 09-10s have the same spindles as the 08 but they are milled out a bit for weight loss

bought mine in feb. 08 , i have 500 miles on it and not a problem , i put the 375/47 springs on it , i weight 250 lbs and i got more machine than balls at this point . best machine ived owned , took a little while to get used to the iq chassie over a edge . i would go with the 700 all the way!!!!!!:face-icon-small-hap:D

I have three 600 iq 1 2007, 2 2008's all carbed, one turboed. I put over 1000 hard miles on one and not a single problem with any of them. Reliable and easy to start. My friend has the FI model, I haven't noticed any difference except maybe first starts on cold mornings and the price tag.

had an 07 Dragon with 4600 miles on it and it ran flawless. now i am on a 600 big bore i will see how i like it

I love my 07 D7, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices. I personally would lean towards the EFI engines just because you don't have to deal with jetting for different altitudes, plus all the new technology is for EFI's (PCIII, PCV, etc).

CFI NO doudt about it two pulls and fires up. Roll it over two pulls fires up. Lot less tech work on the hill in fact none at all.

I would get the cfi, either the 600 or 700.
Now as to the quesiton of 600 or 700 that is really up to you.
If you think a 600 is going to do everything you want, go for it.
If you find out later that you want more, there are bullet proof big bores out there for the 600.
You can go with a 660 (135hp) or you can go to the 727 (150hp). Now the 660 is pretty straight forward, the 727 requires some more extensive work.

I ride the 08 700 RMK and love it. I rode the 600 155 for a few days and found it to be a little underpowered for what I like to do, but then again, I am a big guy.
Really all boils down to personal preference.

You never rode my 660 though...

Sorry donbrown, this is incorrect. the 600 h.o. is not compatible with the 800 top end, rather it is actually the race 600 (which is only found in the iqr chassis) that uses the same (nearly) crankcase as the 800, and has the same stroke. Only the race 600 can accept the 800 jugs.
There are however a few big bore options for the 600 h.o. from Carl's cycle and slp (maybe others?)

What is the fuel mileage on each of these sleds? (all 155")

600 carbed
600 cfi
700 cfi

The 700 155" cfi will consistently get better fuel mileage that the carbed 600 144". Don't have any comparision for the 600 cfi.
