Buying a 12 or 13 pro

I just wanted to know what the differences are? I know the 13 has the belt drive, it was the first season to have it. Is it a good system? I am looking at the 12 at a dealer and the 13 private sale, near the same price.

Thanks

The 13 without question, belt drive, best factory boards ever made, 1000 times more reliable engine. I wouldn't buy another 11 or 12 for any amount of money, fix it kit or not.

I currently have a 2009 Assault with 155 track, The engine problems drove me nuts with Sled and it was close to driving me away from Polaris, does the 13 require the fix kit at all? How strong is the belt drive? Do I need some change anything to make the sled stronger / more reliable?

Thanks guys!

This seems like a dumb question, but If you are willing to buy a 12 or 13 and spend money to make it better or more reliable - why not just spend that money on a newer 14 or 15 with less miles in better shape? That would be the better way to go IMO. Everything with the sled got better each year, so the newest year that appears the most well kept is your best option for reliability, and just ownership in general.

I was in your position last year. Was looking at both '12 and '13 Pro RMK's.

I went with the '13. It has MUCH better running boards, the seat is much better imo, they designed better pistons which are thicker than the 2012 ones, but I would still go with Wossner or Wiseco pistons.

When it comes to the quick-drive, I like it a lot. It is strong and durable imo. I mean, people put turbos on it and it actually works good. I haven't had any isues with it, and I'm at 1400 miles.

I wouldn't be afraid of the '12 Pro tho, replace pistons and you have a great, great sled! Engine is basically the same other than some minor updates on the 2013. That's my opinion :)

You should make sure that the Quick Drive belt has been changed to the 2014 one. Polaris did a recall on the 2013 belt due to weakness. Also, do a compression check. PSI should be 115-125, and not more than 5 psi differential between cylinders.
