Buying 2010 Switchback 800 - some questions

Hi there!
Just checked 2 sleds - both 2010 Switchbak 800. Both have below 200 kms on them, and 20 hrs on engines. What looks weird to me - 110 PSI compression on all cylinders, and it drops slightly after warming up to 60 C (140-150F I belive). Is it Ok, or max speed of 149 Km/Hr contributed to it?

All I can say from my experience is the 2009 800 motors are junk. Not sure about the 2010. 110 psi seems (at least to me) to be some what low, but at least they are the same, which is good. I think more knowledgeable people than myself will chime in soon!:face-icon-small-ton
 
Your compression can differ at different elevations also. Depending on your elevation, 110 might be where they are supposed to be, especially where they are all the same.

Edmonton elevation is 2200 feet. Since November 2010 sleds were used just 5 times, but were stored outside on farmer's field. Engines were never fogged for summer, etc. So, just couple bought them new for fun, never had time to use them, neglected proper storage procedures, and getting rid of them now. Oh my gosh... i dunnow what to do - they might be turned them to lemons. As well, i`ve seen better looking sleds after 4000 km on them - i mean exterior.
 
Well unless you are a pretty fair snowmobile mechanic and the price is a steal, I'd pass on this. I am thinking about the rest of the sled and the effects of poor storage combined with the lack of movement. Bearings go bad, tracks and belts rot, clutches rust up, etc. Sounds like the owner could care less about his ownership duties and the sleds suffer - and so may you. Just saying. 550iq
 
Figured out why compression is low - did not have WOT while checking compression. now its 120, which is fine. these sleds start life with 130

i especially checked for this stuff too - nothing is rusty. Northern Alberta has very dry continental climate, so its ok. Price is 6K CAD each. Ah, what the hell. I am buying... Guys bless me please :)
 
Prices in Canada are generally higher. So, 6K for decent sled with 200 KM on it is very good deal
 
They are great trail sleds, throw a PCV on there and they'll be great. I ran. 1.75 track on mine one year and it was pretty good off trail as well. Seems like a decent deal to me, a few hours cleaning and you've got two for the price of one.
