Need Help! Should I Buy a 2009 or a 2010 M8 162? 4 Grand Difference!!

I have an opportunity to buy a sweet used 2009 M8 Sno Pro for $9000 Canadian that's got a 125 miles on it and warranty until December of next year from the dealer.

Buying a 2010 Sno Pro will cost me $4000 more, because of taxes and required extras (cover, scratchers etc.) that come with the 2009.

This is my second year sledding and I'm coming off a (modified no boost) 2009 Nytro which I'm keeping.

Now I'm torn........:face-icon-small-dis

Should I buck up and get the 2010 because everyone says it's the bomb and it's just that amazing?

or

Should I buy the 2009 and put an SLP kit on it and have money to spare for a turbo later?

Thanks a lot guys, I don't have much time to decide!!!

I just came off of a 09 M8 with a full SLP pipe and Airbox. I think that it was about even with the stock 2010. I would say that the extra hp is worth the extra money. Unless you plan to turbo it then you would be better off saving that extra cash as you will have plenty of horses running boost.

what i would think about is 2012. di is soon to be almost required and this is sure to hurt the resale on none di sleds, when you can get 30-40% better fuel mileage and the reduction in oil useage from the di engine. buy the 09, add a pipe, intake, seat and your dead even with a stock 10 and a few pounds lighter. when you go to resale it in a couple-few years do you think a 10 is gonna be worth $4k more than a 09? is always nice to have a brand new sled but don't think its worth that much more. the M has also been around quite awhile, would think ac will come out with something new soon. i'm watching to see what they end up doing with the 500 snopro chassis.

X2 on the 09 hell buy the 09 take the extra 4000 and put a Pg turbo on it! Or go with a slp pipe, boss seat, bdx intake, maybe a clutch kit either way 4000 in mods on a 09 will put you ahead of a 2010! one other thing on a 09 is we all know that is a proven bullet proof motor and sled just my 0.02 cents though

Good luck either way your going to have a fun sled!

I Kept my 09 153 SP and did what everyones saying, new 2010 Arctic Cat seat, SLP pipe Kit, Gage Cage to let out under hood heat. side vents, clutching, and sled really runs very well. Even have some gas money left in
my pocket. All this for less than $1500.00

I had the same choice and found a 2009 M8 162 SP still in the crate. Take the 09 and put the $4000 towards a PG turbo like M1000 said. Hell...I'm doing the same thing!!! I don't even see the reason to question, you'd have to be crazy to buy the 2010, it just wouldn't make sense. What ever your decision have fun and also remember, if you get a 2010 and want a turbo you will need to buy the 09 head for the motor to drop the compression back down.

2009 is an awesome sled. Go for that, no question, like others have said, you could get a PG turbo for about $4500 and you'd be licking A!@#

Let us know what you do.

Thanks guys, for your unanimous advice!!

Well it's official, I'm going to pick up my "new" 2009 sled this Saturday.

Now I'm itching to get a pg turbo......... :laser:

If I do that, is there any point in getting the SLP pipe kit or will they work together??
