Buried by an avalanche and rescued while wearing a helmet cam!!

I stole this from the very disturbing video from AK section. I thought it would be a good reminder to all of us to know your riding partners avalanche awareness and rescue ability. This is a good time to brush up on rescue skills before the snow flies.

I've been on the digging side of an avy and this gut wrenching video really brings back an awful feeling. I'm just glad it was a happy ending like in my case.

Just a reminder..

ASAP will be at Puyallup giving short seminars, they will have a booth for you all to ask questions and if interested sign up for becoming an instructor. They need more!

ASAP is also getting the fall/ winter schedule together for the 1 day Avalanche Awareness classes by Michael Jackson. Anyone who has taken the class knows it is WELL worth the $ and time! It should be mandatory for you and your riding buddies..... Look for them at the Arctic Cat dearler in Bellingham, The Sled Shed & Ride Motorsports. (so far...)

:)

That is how I remember the point of view from the one I was in, very surreal and scary! The 4 and a half minutes has to be a world record recovery time for a 3 foot deep burial. The fact that a pit was dug and professional guides had already descended another group successfully on the same aspect should be noted.

Great video that will hopefully empower more people to educate themselves on what the causes and signs of avy danger are and how to avoid them.

Great Video!

That is a powerful video.

I have been on the searching side of one of these deals. Absolutely horrible feeling. It didnt end well like this one and I cannot stress enough how important it is to be educated about Avys and what to do if they happen.

Be prepared folks. This brought all those feelings back.

Thanks

Jake

Wow!

My heart rate and resp. went throught the roof just watching.

Beacons, probes, shovels, education and PRACTICE for everybody! Did you notice the guy in the background had trouble getting his shovel together? Practice with all of your tools.

That being said, those guys were AWESOME on their rescue!
