Bump stop?

RMK-King

Super-Moderator
What is the purpose of the bump stop on the middle of the rail on the IQ RMK? Do they prevent rail cracking? I dont see where any susp part could ever hit them.

Oh trust me you hit them if you get off the trail and hit anything....:) like stated above the torsion springs in back hit and the front arm in front hits. You can see the marks in them in my sled. Course, I do ride just a shade on the aggressive side:rolleyes:

Sounds like you need some more "aggressive" shocks. :D I am expecting my new rear susp. this week.

Lets not confuse shocks with springs. Springs are what control how far the suspension travels and compresses. Shocks control the rebound and feedback so that you dont compress the springs and then explode back up throwing the sled. Shocks smooth things out but will have little to do with allowing the suspension to fully compress.

Shocks do slow the the rate of compression. That is why shocks have compression and rebound valving. So while yes, he may need to consider a bigger spring setup, a good revalve may well fix the issue. Will it prevent full compression of the suspension on those big hits? No, but it could slow the compression on the "smaller" big hits to limit the need for new springs.

Why do Snocross shocks ride so stiff? It isn't just the spring, it is more so the valving.
