Awesome man, congrats. Our new place is being built right now too, should be moving in some time in late Feb or more than likely mid march. Lol, suddenly my 1,000 sf garage is making me feel less like a man.

i've been there and really enjoy it. we just finished our 4th home in 11 years. the problem is we are on the family homestead now,and can't really move again

Thanks jvb! It is in North Bend Washington in the foothills of the Cascades. After we bought the land we spent about 6 months designing it and then it took about 18 months to build. We had a general contractor but he worked on time and materials and encourage owner participation. All of his subs were great and I was able to work along side them and take on many projects myself. I worked my butt off on this place and plan on living here until I die.

I have no idea how folks like Blu Du could build 4 times in the last 11 years. It was fun, but took over our lives for 2 years. I been deprived of sledding in a big way. I can't wait for the snow to fly this year!

first off, sweet place NW!!!!!!!! second, i know the feeling!!!!!! i'm my own general contractor, and between clearing the land, designing the place, and starting to build, we are at about 18 months now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pretty much takes over the life for a bit, but SOOOOOO worth it in the end!!!!!!!!

I agree Buck, totally worth it. I still pinch myself daily to make sure it is real. It came out better than I could have ever imagined. There is definately something to be said about a home you design yourself.

The best part was my new toy, the white/red mini excavator. I've put about 340 hours on it so far (clearning, burning, drainage, rock walls, grading) and am nearly done with it. I finished the last of many rock walls last week and I'll be sad to sell it. I'm trying to invent some new projects to justify keeping it!

finally got the insulation in the house, mostly!!!!! things are back on track, for now!!!
