buff pass / steamboat area conditions

Hey thinking about heading out to ride this area. Anybody been out there recently? wondering if its worth the 14hr trip for us. Dug through all the other threads and did not see anything to great. Thanks Guys!

I would not drive 14hrs to ride it. I have taken out a front end the last 2 weekends. A few deeper spots but most of it is not that good. Its ride able but a lot of land mines still.

we drove 14 hrs over thanksgiving & rode buff pass for 3 days , I would say it was worth it. lost 1 a arm the first day but that was all. of course a person had use common sense & pay attention to lumps in the snow. they got 18" since thanksgiving, supposed to get alittle on Wednesday, then there is supposed to be a big storm following that which should result in decent amount of snow. id say if your itchin to go, do it. stay on north facing slopes & you wont be disappointed.

I thought you were oing this Friday, id definitely plan on going next Friday. 20 more inches of so you wont really have to worry about hitting much, which from the sounds of it they could have that next week if predictions hold.

JUST STAY IN TOUCH ON THE FOURMS, THAT 18" OF FLUFF COVERED UP ALOT OF ROCKS JUST ENOUGH TO TAKE OUT A-ARMS, ITS SUNNY AND A BIT WARM TODAY SNOW MAY SETTLE A BIT BUT WE WILL SEE WHAT LATER IN THE WEEK BRINGS,

We rode buff last Saturday. It was pretty good for this time of year but we did feel a few bumps but nothing to bad. We were quite careful where we rode, nothing real steep or in the trees to much.

We planned on heading out Dec 26th thru New Years but the forecast is not very promising. Is there anywhere to ride, I am driving from Illinois so it doesn't matter where I go although I would like to keep it under 20 hours in the truck. I as thinking Grand Mesa but I get mixed reviews on that as well Any help is appreciated.
