Anybody else had this happen? Sure glad i caught this without it fully breaking and leaving me stranded. Sure was fun disassembling the entire sled to remove a throttle cable...

Wow, lucky you caught that. I had to change mine, but mine was broken at the upper adjuster sleeve at the handlebar (due to outside influence)

I’ve seen a few.

Mine broke after one days ride with a finger throttle.
(Too much cable kinking at the barrel.)

Every time a customer asks about a replacement throttle cable, I ask them if they are using a finger throttle— so far, every broken cable I’ve replaced was on a finger throttle.

Interesting as i dont have one. Of course my sleds been sitting for 2 weeks since i got back from the snowies and i dont notice it until now, and where i ride in michigan got a foot of fresh last night and still coming down... no local dealer has one in stock. Maybe I'll get lucky and itll show up Friday...

Yeah, I looked at your photo before I posted and saw yours was original throttle.

Too bad you aren't closer, I keep throttle cables in stock....

I broke mine right at the barrel, same as your pic. Finger throttle. I managed to install the new one without significant disassembly, but it was a headache nonetheless.

Just yesterday, I installed a new finger throttle, hoping for less cable kinking at the barrel (my old one had some of the epoxy from the heater where the barrel rests). Although the new throttle was way cleaner, the barrel still bound in it. I spent some time with a small file cleaning up the barrel. That made a huge difference - now it rotates freely in the finger throttle.

A little off topic..

But on the PRO Chassis

Look at the Upper Rad Hose... meets throttle cable.. Throttle cable always wins.. Rad. Hose Looses!!!

Dang Vibs..

Yep... had a Munster throttle and broke a cable before I even had 100 miles on my sled. Not fun when you’re 17 miles in.

Sure loved the ergos but not worth the hassle.

If anyone needs a finger throttle- I know a guy :face-icon-small-hap

I find this topic interesting. I have a full season on my finger and zero cable issues. I adjusted it per Munsters instructions, and the barrel rotates freely in the block.

I've been inspecting the cable on a regular basis as there are other complaints about this.... Nothing seems to be out of place, and zero signs of wear.

I wonder what the cause of this really is....

When did you get yours? Wonder if they changed the design at somepoint.

For those that have the Munster throttle, are you getting full throttle? Another person and I had one and it was brought to our attention that we weren’t. You can check by pulling the throttle to the bar then pushing on the cable itself with your finger. We were able to continue pushing the cable with our finger until the cable got to full throttle.

Ya so.. I have just a little extra after checking mine... Interesting... Adjustment time...

Could be newer design. I bought it when they just began offering for polaris. I remember looking at sled/throttle before sold and there was some unusual wear in plastic that was likely to blame. Still going to install new one on 850. So much easier for me to use.

I put one on in November of '17 as well and had no issues after running it about 1000 miles. Transferred it to the 850 this year with no issues yet. Maybe a design change as was said.

make sure your throttle touches the bar and you can hear the throttle plates fully open at the same time. If the throttle plates open up fully before the throttle touchs the bar you will be putting excessive force on the cable when squeezing the throttle.
