Broken spider issue?

I'm on my third clutch in 6400km. Approx. every 3000km the spider breaks and wreaks havoc in my engine comparment. Should a guy just replace the whole clutch every 2500km?

No, you have something going on that needs to be troubleshooted, Yamaha clutches are quite strong and will take a lot more power and abuse than what your sled is putting out

Stock secondary, heavier weights in primary, 162" camo extreme, stock gearing. Alignment, deflection is all good. Know of two other yamis that had the same problem.

You've got something going on there for sure, that shouldn't even be on the radar with your setup. How is your chain tension, where and what style of riding do you do? It sounds like the primary is getting shock loaded or hammered on somehow.

extreme heat will break the spider. if you are getting belt slippage or if you are simply riding the sled wide open for 20 minutes straight in 6 feet of powder without letting off the throttle this can happen. it has happened on mine. Vents are a good thing, and making sure your clutching is right to reduce heat is a good thing.
