Broken pull rope?

My friend has a 1010 big bore that keeps breaking the rope and Im tired of trying to start it with the clutch. Anyone know of a stronger rope to try? Any help would be great!

Lots of people are either fabricating or purchasing an adapter plate that allows you to install a M series recoil on the big twin engines. PM Idcatman1 or Idcatman3 for more info since they sell the adapter kits. The M series recoils are stronger and will make it easier to pull the 1010 over.

We (Idcatman1, my dad, and I) do make adapters to put the newer recoil on the older motors. They are a larger diameter and also built more durable. We have yet to break a rope on a sled with a conversion kit, even our 1500 triple.

Let me know if you'd like more information.

There are also a number of people that do make stronger rope. Some people use (I think 5mm) climbing rope. I believe that Fastrax sells something called Fantom rope. There are a couple others I've seen but that's all I remember off the top of my head, I'm sure someone else will chime in.

We went with the adapter kit to the new recoil to try to eliminate the problem of broken recoils and ropes forever. It's worked for at least a couple seasons now.

rope

that climbing rope works so does amsteel but alot more expensive neither will break. amsteel you can get at logging supply store that sells rope you will not break that stuff. wps sells it also. climbing rope is cheaper and more length

The conversion is awesome!!!

If not try the fantom rope, do a search on here dont remember off the top of my head who has it. I think its has a warranty and everything!

I bought my conversion from Idcatman1 and Idcatman3 and I cannot say enough good things about the kit they supplied. I just replaced the stock rope with a 5mm climbing rope and it pulls sooo much easier now (less resistance than my 600cc sled).

Look for some 5 mm or 5.5mm or maybe some 6mm climbing rope. there are two kinds one with like 1200 lbs pull and one with like 4000 lbs. the higher one is so stiff you will wonder if the recoil will pull it in....yes it will.

I bought the 4000 years and years ago no breaks.

I guess a new rope is cheaper but.........

I couldn't pull over a big bore with that little 440 recoil. I converted mine to the new style. It's easy to do and way easier pull over and way less stress on the rope.
