Broke steering post need advice

I did same thing about a month ago :face-icon-small-fro and was to cheap to buy a new one, so I made a special plug on the lathe that fit snug in the top and the bottom. Then drilled holes in the steering post put the plug in and welded full the holes then ground the flush with the other metal, when I got done it looked kind of weak in the spot it broke so I got a friend to run a very small tig weld around the break just so ever thing was together and stronger. And so far it has held very well and I think it might be stronger then when I started.

pm wildchild , canadasledparts and buy a new one

X2...

His are way stronger. I've bent and broke 3 shafts on low mileage IQ's.

If he's out of stock and you need one bad, let me know. I keep them in stock.

And if you like your sled and plan on keeping it for at least another year, and if you have a flat post style, then change it to a T post style with a different riser block/attachment.

The T-style post will take much more load than will a flat post. I have done the calculations.
