broke key off now what?

knee met key and the key lost. Recovered three pieces of the key and it broke off in the off position (of course). We tried to hot wire but it seems the key actually functions as a constant on, as in you get spark when u cut the wires. well we got spark but it never fired any ideas?

Disconnecting one of the two wires on my switch did the trick on an 03 this last weekend with the same problem.

What year is it?

disconnecting one of the wires on the back of the on/off key switch supposedly turns it to "on all the time" until kill switch is hit thats on a 2010

Change it

Buy a new ignition switch, you`ll get a new key with it.

its an 07'. can't get a new ignition switch for a few days so were going back in this morning to play around with it. hopefully cutting the wires works, since we already cut them!

No key needed

You do not need a key just unplug it and its on run. You probably just flooded it when it would not start.

you shouldn't need a whole new ignition unless you messed it up too, should just need to get the letter off face of the ignition, go to the dealer and pick up a new key for like $8

if part of the key is broke off and still in the tumbler you should be able to use a flat head screw driver and operate the key as normal

Thanks all got her running! borrowed an ignition from buddy down the rode plugged it in and she fired right up! Also packed in 10gal of gas so our recovery mission turned into an all day epic ride in the fine may pow!!
Probably just going to leave the ignition unplugged and go without less to worry about. Now that i know all you need to do is cut a wire or unplug it the key is worthless for security anyways, more free weight savings!
