Broke Down Pro, need help please

My buddy's 2012 Pro 800 broke down last weekend. It is still up on the mountain and we are gonna try to recover it this weekend. We were riding along and it just died, almost like he hit the kill switch. A couple minutes went by and it started back up, but the gauges were all flashing and then it died. Now it will not start at all. Any suggestions what it could be? Thank you.

Regulator, stator or bad plug in . Start with the simple stuff check connections, pull off regulator and check for deformed back (bubbling or burnt )Take a multi meter and check stator to see if it is shorted .Call insurance agent to make sure its covered if not warren-teed .
Don't forget hotdogs and beer .

Normally when a stator goes it won't refire at all, I'd lean towards the voltage regulator, def sounds electrical. Maybe safety switch on throttle? Hopefully you have a pro also, try parts off of till the broke one runs, take it back to the truck then take the parts back out to the sled you stole parts from. Or if it's not too far out just tow it..

we had one a few weekends ago. after a voltage reg change, stator (on the mtn) and ecu it ended up being a cdi. we were able to smack it with a shovel handle and it would run for a couple min. did that to get it back to the truck

A stator will fail when warm and work when cold. If you go back and it starts right up, haul *** to the truck.

Plugs?

We had one do that going down the trail. Pulled off hood and checked every electrical conection and plug. Fired right up. No more issues. Wish they would do a plug that snaps together and locks

2012 No Start

I had to drag my 2012 off the mountain last year. The problem was moisture was sealed in the TPS connector at the factory [known issue]. Dealer cleaned the connector and no issues since. Might be worth the effort to look there before you tow.

I had a similar issue last weekend and it was my ground up by the front bumper mount point
