well this is number two in less than 200 miles. trust me, this will put you over the bars :face-icon-small-hap i think it is safe to say i have an issue. my guess is an accumulation of manufacturing tolerances. but that is just a guess. there is nothing obvious so i'm not sure what my options are. luckily for me i have an outstanding dealer who always takes care of me. we'll see if there are any options after march 4th... if nothing significant, maybe a complete replacement of both shafts and drivers? heard carl's have had some luck with that options. if that doesn't solve the issue i might have to figure out a chain case.

Sorry to hear that you are are not having good luck with your Pro's QD belt. The good news is you have an outstanding dealer (HPAK) and if there is any way to get it covered under warranty they will do it.

Looks like it may be time to start actually carrying my back up QD belt with me into the back country instead of leaving it in the truck.

I know of one guy who's dealer handed him 2 belts and a driveshaft so he wouldn't have to come back so often. :face-icon-small-con

I think im with ya there at 420 miles I think my spare is going to go in my backpack...the hell with their special care crap of the belt..its goin in my bag bunched up... I just want it to get me off the mountain at that point!

after i broke the first one my dealer dealer handed me two belts also. i keep the spare in my backpack without being bunched up. there is a nice little spot that it fits quite well so i won't be damaged. it even retains the same shape it is sent out as and is protected from contact or rubbing from other things in my bag. works well. still a PITA to change on the hill but better than ruining my day or more importantly, my buddies day having to tow me out. hopefully polaris offers some sort of option/"fix". if not then i'll probably do a chain case eventually. time will tell.

I went through 3 belts before I bit the bullet and went with a steel shaft and a c3. I don't think the stock setup is going to hold up in heavy spring snow, and I don't want to have one go in the back bowls of turnagain. You haven't lived though until one breaks on you going downhill at Valdez, that one pissed me off.

Hpak is my dealer as well, great service. They are the only reason I have rode polaris for the past few years.

Did it snap in half or did you burn through it after it striped the cogs?

not sure what you mean by burning through it? it started to strip and i continued to ride it since i knew i had a backup (the one i previously pulled a cog off of) that would get me back to the truck. off trail, it snapped in two.

I thought maybe it stripped the cogs and then you couldn't get going again and the top pulley "burnt" through the belt. I thought these belts wern't suppose to break in half and only strip teeth.

yeah, i thought that too. obviously not... :) it was actually moving surprisingly well considering the number of stripped cogs i had. cruising right along through about a foot and a half of loose snow at about half throttle until POW, OTB i went. full hand stand to my back on the snow in front of the sled. pretty funny actually, too bad none of my buddies saw it happen.

Yea C3 the way to go that i see. When i get the funds im putting one on the wifes sled, not dealing with the QD bull $$$$hit. Just cant believe they wont acknowledge this or the a arm glue thingy. Poo is on the edge of greatness, but when you cant even say hey we have some problems here but will take responsibility, makes me wonder where their future lies. I want to believe the 14 will be what the 13 should have been.

actually i haven't see too many people talking about a lot of failures as of late. the traffic has kind of dropped off. i actually think i am the exception rather than the rule. i don't see it as some sort of epidemic. still not happy about it but i'll not going to get overly angry about it either. not sure how polaris would be able to address it. anything they put out would have more people jumping up and down screaming "i told you so, bla bla bla, POS, bla bla bla, etc" than people giving any credit. it would be a no win situation. i'll see if any changes have been made for 14 and go from there.

i've considered that but for the same cost, or less, i could just put a chain case on and be done with it.

I don't know who your dealer is Pura Vida, but HPAK has been pretty unhelpful when I asked them about getting a spare. With the amount of failures I have heard of around here I would call this a HUGE issue.

I don't think my sled would move with out teeth. I have quite a bit of slack now at abit over a 1000 miles. It's easily 3/8 to 1/2" cold and some when warm. It did start very tight for first couple of rides though.

I don't know if that helps to look for anything PV, like pulley OD's on one that has been good.

thanks geo, that is interesting to hear that the belt has loosened up that much over time. we'll see how long this one lasts...

ak, can you define "unhelpful"? did you expect to be handed a spare QD belt b/c you have heard of other belt failures, yet yours is still fine? just b/c you are worried about it? if that is what you are looking for, good luck with that. i guarantee they will be more than happy to sell you an extra QD belt if that would make you feel more comfortable about riding. seriously, if you are that concerned, i would suggest selling your sled and getting one that you won't be worried about leaving you stranded.

I purchased my spare QD Belt from HPAK along with a few other accessories. I went with the Happy Face tools & clamp.. Big Ling gave me a SnoWest discount to include the clamp & tools.the Poo clamp is on the clutch side. 4 rides and everything still looks good.

You are the most ridiculously defensive person I've come across on this site.

I expected a little more help or explanation because I was at the shop due to my belt being stripped. The shop guy made a big deal about how he needed pictures of it so they could make sure it was going to be waranteed. Of course its a warranty issue. Chains don't blow at 500 miles.

I wasn't expecting a free handout, but when I mentioned to the service guy that maritas is selling QD belts at cost to take care of their customers he blew me off.

Is that a better explanation PV?
