BRAND NEW to snowest wit 900 clutchn issues

hey there, brand new to this site. heard about it from snowandmud.com and i cant believe how much info is on here. holy cow. and a seperate sub fourm for the 900, that is awsome. so heres the low down...........got a 06 900 rmk 151 and its got a cpi pipe, mbrp can, v force 3, timberland intake setup, rad delete, 19/42 gears, 40hp nos and stock clutchn for around 2300ft for the machine when it was stock(cant remeber wat weights or spring). it dosnt feel like im gettn all my power to the ground and i know clutchn needs to be done. but wat do all u guys like??? im thinkn diff helix, prim spring and weights?? im one of those guys that always overlooked clutchn but its time now. :beer;

primary run slp green pink primary with 11-72 or 11-74's in the secondary run the 64-42 .46/ 64-44 .46 helix with the red/black spring or the black/purple spring that should get ya close

Look arong the sticky links at the to of this 900 forum...you will find TONS of info on this topic!!

BIGDAWG's setup will have a higher engagement RPM than most... but I think he is running the 975.

I've tried the heavy spring (the Green/pink is the heaviest SLP primary available at 160/340) with the heavy wieghts pulling against it. I had to be really good with feathering in the throttle to keep from trenching at take-off in the really deep stuff. I prefer a more moderate "tip in" rpm.

I found that this affected the backshift response greatly as the secondary has to "fight" the heavy wieght /spring combo as it responds to the torque load.

My final version on a good running 900 was the Almond (140/330) primary with 11-68's, red/pink secondary (140/260) and a 64/42 helix (66-42 worked well also.. but the upshift seemed to improve a bit with the 64) this is running at 7500 - 10000 feet

At lower altitudes, I run 11-70's with the identical setup.

My gearing was 18-40 (2.22:1) or 19-42 (2.21:1) which used up all of the primary travel

Bone stock 2006 900 RMK
Primary: Black/Gn 120-340 with 10-72 weights
Secondary: 64-38/.25” with Red/Blk 140-240 spring
Gearing: 20-41 …. 2.05:1

ok. wat kinda weight change is average when goin to 2300ft to around 8000ft? like 70g weight to a 60g or just wondering how much difference weights make compared to elevation. would the adjustable weights work wit that much change in elevation?

at 8000 feet 11-68 or 10-70 will work.
on average you have to take 2grams off for every 3-4000 foot change in elevation.
MH i was giving the clutching from my brothers 900. you can run the blue pink primary spring too. that is what i run in my 975. the green pink gives you right at 4000 engaugement the blue pink is around 3800

Do some reading on the stickies.... you will find yourself busy for the rest of the day... and get an better understanding of clutching in general...

Good luck!!
