bow cycle -- big xp repair issues

anyone have to replace the front end of their xp? my friend hit a tree at the START of december and took his sled to Bow Cycle with a bent (not smashed) nun and a messed up suspension on one side. They said parts were on back order -- fine. quoted about 4thousand to fix completely after taking apart and inspecting it. fine

NOW, three weeks ago, after no calls from Bow, he calls in and they say, parts in in two weeks and she'll be completely ready to go. -- fine

He calls yesterday, and, after no call from bow to say it's ready, they said they put it together and now TOOK IT BACK APART and that it would need a whole new tunnel as it was bent and 40 HOURS MORE LABOUR. If so, HOW DID THEY NOT NOTICE THIS BEFORE! He went off on the guy and had the guy sputtering for words after accusing bow of giving out his parts to other customers for the last three months. Then they call back and ask him if he'd like to use his insurance to call it a write off. (maybe the best idea back in december, especially if he had KNOWN about the supposed bent tunnel). Both of us currently out of town at work so we can't go look a the thing again.

any thoughts, any experiences with replacing the front end? Does Bow deserve a pile of turd on the doorstep? or is this typical?

and didn't find out if they did any of the belt-sprocket-hand warmer-driveshaft updates

Insurance total and get a new sled. Should have found ALL the damage on a good inspection, not difficult to determine the full extent if they actually LOOK. Since this didn't happen all he can do is total it and hopefully the dealer learned something and does something to help make it right for the lost riding time.

Here's some advice....don't deal with them...ever! I can't stand the place. I'll never walk through the doors again.

What's with all of these dealerships ripping peeps off?! The riding season is short enough and to have the dealer hold on to your sled for 5 weeks is total BS! Total it, and buy a new sled and make sure that Bend Over Cycles knows that you bought elsewhere!

Bowcycle is about 5 minutes away from my house.
I could go there for oil, parts, service, etc. but the guy's are the biggest tools, so I go 2 hours out of town.

Terrible customer service, young kids more concerned about dirt bikes, then sleds, working there.

I wouldn't have dealt with them in the first place.

I had problems with bow cycle back when I used to ride street bikes...I would tell them just to write it off and act like you are going to buy a new one from them...cause if you dont then they will not help you at all with the insurance people...but they will help if they think they are going to make some money...then when you get the cash...tell them thx very much I wouldnt have bought this new sled from cochrane if it wasnt for you guys :)

Sounds like the Polasris Yamaha Dealer over here.

We have a dealer like that here it sucks, because people new to the sport get hosed by these people all the time. Then they can't afford to continue riding, not to mention the taste left in your mouth.A good dealer is worth a brand change.I bought a Skidoo because of the quality of the dealer here, and I made shure the other guy knew it.If you can't bring your self to do that then drive.

Just my thoughts.

Yep.

And Knizer8hun is right, they are more concerned about selling street bike parts and quads then anything else.

A short story from (from 1 of the 2 times I have ever gone in there - this was the last straw for me): Trying to buy jets and a mountain bar for a sled in Dec, the guy said they would have to order both in, while I am listening to him tell me this, there is a service guy talking to a girl on the other end of the counter about a street bike steering damper:

customer: "yeah, I think that's what I need, I'll order one."
service guy: "Oh, no need to order, we have lots of those in stock. I'll go to the back and get one."

WTF!!!!!! I was so pissed. No jets for sleds in the middle of winter???!!!! but you can buy a steering damper for a street bike that you can't ride for 5 months.......I inquire about why they don't keep jets at least in stock, since they are such a common part....The guy has the nerve to say: "Well, we can't float that much overhead stock, we would have $1000's tied up in parts inventory sitting in the back." LMFAO!!! Oh really?...... they seem to have an ample supply of street bike parts sitting around ALL WINTER!!!!!

The first time I went in there, I was looking for springs, the young kid at the parts counter that knows nothing about sleds, was looking in the SkiDoo accessories catalogue for springs. I'm telling him to look in the parts manual, he is disagreeing with me and not finding anything except luggage racks in the accessories catalogue - this goes on for about 20 mins, finally the girl comes over and asks, she goes to the back and talks to the mechanic, who gives her the part # in 2 mins. I almost reached over the counter and beat the kid with the accessories catalogue. Long story short, I order from Mr. R's in Lomond now. Bow Cycle doesn't know which end of the snowmobile the track is supposed to be on. Sorry to hear about your bad luck though, sucks that buddy missed the whole riding season becuz of those tools. Just my opinion.

Dido for me...Bow Cycle is full of clowns...10 min from my home...but I buy and deal with a dealer hours away...you are just a # to them...they don't give a $hit...

regarding your sled...at this point write it off...order an 09 ...from some other dealer!!

Typical Idiots at BRP! Still design a chassis to be totaled when bumping a tree and then not have parts to repair.

Also charge all buyers in the fall 10,500 and then three months later try to get rid of over produced XP's at a fraction of the cost the loyal snowcheckers payed, making there used sleds basically worthless for resale.

You guys support a very bright compnay! Congratulations

What does any of that have to do with getting shafted by a particular dealer??? And why are you even in the Doo forum if they are so horrible?

i think the service at bow cycle sucks
-if you dont look "old enough" to want to buy something rather then just look around when you enter the store you get no service(till you say you want to snow check a new summit 800 and then you get a sales person on your back)
-i asked a sales guy a question one week ago..never returned my call with an answer yet
-they make you feel like **** for asking questions due to i got the response at least 5-6 times from one particular sales rep "well thats a stupid question" or "OBVISIOULY DUDE"
-they want $1000 snow check ..everywhere else is only 500?

SOOO i went to riverside honda skidoo in edmonton and got treated like a good customer and got a AWESOME deal from those guys. I will buy every sled from them till i give up riding! word of advice take a trip into edmonton for your skidoo needs..talk to MIKE he knows his **** and how to deal with ppl.
