BOV sound not as noticable anymore

Midway through last season I began to notice that the sound of the BOV is barely noticeable now. I can hear it once and awhile, but when it was new even when I would slightly let off the throttle it would flutter.

I do not notice any top end performance loss, but I have noticed that it is not quite as "peppy" or responsive at lower RPM levels.

What do you think might be going on here if anything?

I would say likely your stock one is worn out. Get a EVO one and never look back. The evo one can likely benefit from being cleaned and regreased yearly but is solid and works alot better than stock.

A note on cleaning the EVO Bypass valve. It is easy. Nothing to worry about here.

I've noticed the same thing on mine Jeff, although I have a loss of RPM as well (doesn't go past 7400 or so now. In a couple months max I will have my reflash showing boost and can hook it up to your sled in about 5 minutes.

I wonder if both our BOVs have worn out and mine is slighly more worn.

Chripes! I only have about 800-900 miles+- on the sled....

What the heck, isnt this BOV solid? Apparently not

Another thing you may want to try with the low rpm issue is that your clutches are not glazed. Scotchbrite the clutch sheeves.

What boost gauge?

Can this be used with a stock set up?
And how easy is it to install?

Yes sir. The hose that goes to the fuel pressure regulator is the toughest part. Otherwise you just pull the hood off and it installs in the factory location and everything is included you need. Increases throttle response because it is referenced to vacuum like a bypass valve should be. Keeps the turbo spooled better. Use the turbo intake boot from evo as well. If you are ready to really wake up the 1100 evo has some great remap tunes as well that work great here in mn as well as out west.

Actually the rock box is really junk. It feels like a cheap Chinese toy when you get it off. If you want I will cut mine in half and show you the poor quality of the stock valve.

expand on the hose going to the fuel pressure regulator as being the toughest part please...........

There is just not much room there. You can do it without taking the gas tank off but is easier with the tank off. Taking the tank off is also fairly easy just takes time.

How about I get a case of beer, a plate of momma's world famous ribs and get your butt up here and help me!

That is what I hate, to get to this piece you need to take off that, that, and that piece, and then remove the schnitzer valve, and disassemble the muffler bearing.........

Oh well, the days of opening the hood on a hinge and being able to stand back and toss your motor at the sled and having it land in the belly pan are waaay past us now....... LOL

Order the valve and I will come over Friday or Saturday night of hay days and put it in for you. That's how sure I am that you need it!

When you say there is not alot of room does that mean that it is almost impossible to get the hose on because your hands are not that of a 4 years old size, or yep its doable with sausage fingers but its tight and you can't see very well.....

Or?

I live about 10 minutes from Jeff. Might as well meet up as well to show you the reflashed gauge. At that point it should be showing boost, which might be useful.

Stephan:

That would be great.

Do you think you might have something ready for a reflash of my gauge?
