Bout to explode some brains! Waxing or re-surfacing my 2015 Timbersled ski.

After a few years of riding, my ski has sustained a wide range of scratches.

I have noticed that my ski feels sticky at times and will sometimes load up after being stopped causing the all too embarrassing tip over in front of everyone. I would also attribute a sticky ski to poor overall handling of the suspension.

Is there is anyone with knowledge of a good all around durable wax and a possible application process.

This could get interesting!:bowl:

You can use a torch and flame polish it and follow with your favourite wax. But when experiencing the ski balling up with snow just stand on the pegs and rock the bike back and forth with your body until you feel the ski sliding again, no more embarrassing tip overs.

We have had great luck using a MAP torch and "re-glazing" the bottom of the ski. You are basically melting a smooth surface into it again. Takes about 20 - 30 minutes and works every time.

I have waxed ski when i knew it would be sticky, but not sure it did much. TS ski once got wet in creek crossing then turned to an instant Ice ball. That sucked! Yeti once found thawed mud in the middle of nowhere. That one was really bad. Packed it and refroze it instantly.

Man thats us as well I need a good dirt and rock wax...I'm going to get into center skag modifications for riding street and rock/dirt...I would love to have ice or snow sticking to my ski.

METAL ATTRACTION

the metal exposed on the bottom of our ski is the problem in those freeze to the ski sno conditions. I have looked for some kind of plastic coat to spray them down to minimize the problem.

when in those conditions it is mostly a problem when you stop, so the rocking your bike back and forth before you drop the hammer seems to be the best cure.

Try melting a pound of alligator fat onto your ski and rubbing it in. Alligator fat also has medicinal purposes too!

Just a side note, if the ski keeps bunching up when you stop, then an easy solution should be stop stopping and just keep riding.

Ya gotta hold'r wide! :face-icon-small-coo

I read this post previously and I have to admit I thought you all were nuts ! Until yesterday when it happened to me 3 times in a row! It was just flat out unrideable like that! At first I thought something was broken ??? WTF for sure

Straight impossible to ride like that. You just tip over immediately. I’ve found it to happen in cold weather when you stop on a lake for a couple minutes. You don’t realize it’s icing up until you try to take off. Awesome watching it happen to your buddies though.

That’s overflow freezing to the ski.
