Bought a X3 track do i need new drivers

I purchased a X3 track Do I need to switch drivers. I have a 17 axis with 2.6 on it now. Any help is appreciated if drivers are needed where is the best place to get them and what brand?

What pitch is your X3?
Your stock track is a 2.86 pitch.

You need to know that and you'll be able to answer your own question.

Great track, great purchase.

Yes you do need new drivers. Did you get the center window cutout track or no cutout?

Get ahold of Avid for drivers..

156 x 15 x 3 Challenger X3, 3.0" Pitch, Single ply, Fully Clipped, Center Ported for Polaris

So your stock drivers are 2.86 pitch, and your new track is a 3.0 pitch.

In the past I would just say yes, you need new drivers. BUT, some guys have tried running the 3.0 pitch track on the stock drivers and have been reporting no issues at all. I'm guessing the windows are large enough to account for the .14 difference in pitch, and I'm really not surprised by those reports. This is something I wold like to try myself at some point.

Avid drivers is your best option. since your track is center ported, you can use the center drive drivers they offer, or you can choose the extrovert drivers they have, which is more durable, but also require you to cut off the ends of your rails and install an anti-stab wheel kit. Eric

So fair warning. We did this on Skidoo XP's back in 2008-2010. It will work for a while but after about 1,000 - 1,200 miles, they would start to ratchet pretty good.

And the Skidoo drivers are way better than Polaris.

I would go with the Avid drivers.

I would resell the track and run the 2.6. Best track I ever had. Some wear issues but I ride with a guy who has 1800 hard miles on his and no problems. I had the X3 on my 13. My 16 with the 2.6 was far better in all snow conditions. I am taking into account that the 16 makes more power. The Polaris 2.6 is a great track. It is better than the X3 or the Polaris 3" track although that may partially be due to belt versus chain drive. All I know is that my 2.6 stock was better than the 3 with a pipe and other performance enhancements.

I've put three X3's on sleds and always went with the Avid 3" pitch anit-ratchet drivers (not center window). The X3's are clipped on every lug, so it's very durable. I've seen X3's with this setup that look great after 4000 turbo miles. Great track. I'd recommend going with the right drivers for sure because that's all I've used. I don't like the idea of using the center window as a contact point with my driver as they aren't reinforced. I've seen other Polaris tracks that have ripped due to using the center window, but I've never experienced this myself.

Good luck
