Boss Nos with methanol.

We tried one last year on a Pro Rmk with mixed results. The kit was jetted for 60 HP and made great power, but we had some issues with the DET sensor maxing. Seems to be related to the atomization of the methonal, and maybe too much of it. Switched to the Gas setup and no more DET, and the same power.

We will see I picked up my kit today that I had updated from the old style and had them put in the methanol jets. Now I just need some snow.

Just give us a shout if you have any questions, we are always here and more than willing to help.

Doesn't anything ending with an ol mix poorly with oil? :nono:Just wondering. And also you are supposed to advance timing and have alot hotter ignition system to run methanol? ohh and aren't you supposed to have a mixing agent to mix it with gas? or is that what the no2 is for? Shouldn't you have a diferent dome design when running it as well? I experemneted in hoghschool with a small 2 stroke engine and i tried alternative fuels. METH killed it. Pre-ignitioned very badly.

:ranger:

just wondering why?

Methanol Testing

In all of our testing, we did find some of the same issues. The oil was the biggest. We found very quickly that regular 2 stroke oil would not mix the the Methanol, so we use Castor oil.
As far as advancing the timing and running hotter ignition we did not find it necessary and have had no issues with detonation or pre-ignition.
The Nitrous serves as an excellent catalyst to introduce the Methanol into the system, and actually the Methanol is burned as the fuel source for the Nitrous, so the fuel and Methanol are not actually being mixed. They are both introduced into the cylinder in an atomized state.
We have had good luck, but only market this system to the avid racers. For most applications we would recommend the Race Gas setup, as it has proven to be reliable.

Klotz Benol and Klotz Super Techniplate will mix and stay mixed with it and as far as advanced timing you dont have to especially when only injecting small amounts. We did advance it on our race bikes though but we were running it straight and they loved it and as far as dome design we never changed them on our bikes between gas and methanol that doesent mean it wouldnt help though.
Injecting it with nitrous is new to me and I am excited to try after I finish my rebuild and get the motor broke in.

I bought a dual stage methanol kit. Working great with my engine set up. No deto and making great power. good air fuel ratio and moderate egt.
Nice product.
Also like to thank Boss for the time on the phone and great service I received.
