trying to decide on a new set of boots. i run 90% mountain and ride aggressively.

i am looking at Klim's Radium and Adrenaline. also HMK's Boa.

any reviews on these? anything else i should consider?
i need a good all around boot...nothing the best at everything. medium warmth, medium comfort, good support, and good waterproofing

lets hear what you run?

thanks for any input guys, much appreciated!

Ryan:D

I picked up a nice set of used HMK's...but not the Boa's....just the normal lace style. Tried a set last year and liked them. Was wearing a general heavy duty winter boot before this.

I wear HMK boots, the normal lace up style. I like them a LOT coming of snowboaring and the stiffer boots, they protect my feet, keep me dry and are very comfortable to walk around with considering how stiff they are.

as far as the klim boots, my dad has a pair and they work awsome for him as he doesnt like the stiffer style boots which I am so fond of.

i guess, depends on what you like, if your coming of snowboard boots, you will be much more comfortable wearing HMK's IMO... if your only used to work boots and never snowboarded or worn the boots stick with hte Klims.

Both are an amazing boot and work very well, just comes down to what your used to.

I use Northwave snowboard boots. They are stiff and warm, provide alot of protection when I crash. Plus they are probably 1/3rd the cost of snowmobile boots.

the search button at the top works wonders
you will find a million posts on the "best" boots

have fun reading ;)

I have a set of HMK's a few years old with the BOA tightening system.

What I like: They are warm, they have held up very well, easy to remove/replace liner when you go and dry them out. They give oyu great support (Read stiff)

What I dont like: They are stiff. Not the type of boot where you can also use it for ice fishing, or walking any sort of a distance on a hard surface, or jumping in your truck for a short drive or to quickly back up the trailer. It dont work in these boots.

Having said that though, I use my boots for snowmobiling, period. I have an old worn out pair of Trukke boots that I use for activities where I actually have to walk and need to bend my foot.........

I highly recommend the BOA set up on the HMK's. The new tightening knob is more recessed than the earlier version that I have. This new style almost eliminates the knob getting knocked off by rubbing against something that does not give.

I had my HMK's pro boa boots all last year and loved them, but like Jeff C said they are stiff and you can't drive in them!

But for riding a sled they worked very well for me.

My wife has Klim boots cause the HMK's were to stiff and big for her and they are excellent as well!

I don't think either is going to let you down!!

I've been wearing HMK Highmark Pros for a few years now. Klim before than and snowboard boots prior. Really like the HMKs. Like others have said, go with the Boa lace setup. I have the regular lace-ups and wish I had the Boas. Next time...

I wore a pair of HMKs for four years and they held up really well.the only prob i had with them was how stiff they were and my feet at the end of the day were usally wet either from sweating or leaking a little, but they are a very warm boot my feet never got cold in them.I now wear kilm adrenaline boots my feet stay warm and dry and they are much more confortable to me.I like that when i am done riding that i dont have to change my boots to drive my truck home.Just my .02

Scarpas, and Coldwave.. After snapping my ankle in the track a few seasons ago.. I stick to something with a bit of Armour/support/padding. I also utterly destroyed my snowboard boots in one season. To pricey to replace them every year.

I have a set of Klim Adrenalines and really like them. Nothing beats coming back at the end of a day of riding with dry feet :D

i like neos insulated the best, very light, always warm, never wet and you dont have to change, you just put them over your shoes

Ive had Klims and they didnt last at all. Went to the local sportmart and bought a set of Airwalk snowboard boots for $50. They were lighter, more comfortable, and lasted way longer than my Klims. Pretty hard to go wrong for that price.

I picked up a set of pos old snowboarding boots at a second hand store here in town for 10$. figured i couldn't go wrong with them, A lot better than thrashing a pair of 150 dollar hunting packs like what had been happening. never ridden with boots like snowmboarding ones but i think they will hold up better on snow eliminators!!

pro boas for me. they are a b!tch to walk in so you might want to pick up a ski-doo also so you don't have to walk home

If you get the opportunity it would pay to try them all on. I don't really have much experience with the HMK stuff. I've heard quite a bit of good about the Pro Boa system boots though.
As for the Klim, it will depend on what you are looking for in a boot. The adrenaline is by far the most popular. Very comfortable boot, good support, light weight and Gore-Tex. Mine have held up extremely well and have used them quite a few times in -20. They run pretty true to size.
The Radium is more of of a snowboard style boot. Not much give for walking, but more support if you do a lot of jumps and drops. These seem to run about 1-2 sizes small. Still Gore-Tex too!

Klim adrenaline

I bought the Klim adreniline's last season and loved them. They were so comfortable that I found myself wearing them even when I wasn't sledding.
