boost line question

Can the hose that goes to a boost gauge be plummed into the air line between the turbo and the intercooler or does it HAVE to be in the turbo housing.

Yes. And no it doesn't have to be on the compressor housing.

I have a MCX kit and my boost gauge is connected to the blowoff valve tubing. The blowoff valve is connected to the side of the intercooler, just before the throttle bodies.

Running your boost gauge line off of the engine side of the intercooler will give you a more accurate reading of what the engine is seeing for boost. There is a pressure drop through an intercooler so taking the reading "pre-intercooler" is not an accurate indication of boost at the engine.
