Boondocker turbo!!

Not much information or photos of the boondocker turbokits.
How many hp? How much boost? Race or pump gas?

That is because it is still at R&D stage. I've been talking with them for the last couple months though so it is obviously coming along IMO. After this first season beginning our rental and guiding business of snow bikes in Whistler BC (SNO-MOTO ADVENTURES) I'll get one for myself next year for sure.

So which bike makes the best turbo as far as horsepower. I've heard the KX450 is tough to beat. Anyone ask Boondocker what they say ?

curious to see how the bottom end performs, took many years for sled kits to get to the point where they were stock like snappy off the bottom. and considering HOW good bikes run stock, gonna be hard to match. I know thats one of the biggest fun factors on the bike is the instant snap on the bottom end.

The Boondocker system is equivalent to stock off the bottom. It took some R&D to get it done, but the finished result is near stock off the bottom, then boost! Any questions, give Allen a call. Pretty awesome.

Who are you kidding Randy, me.... buying a turbo kit?

I am curious to see how they pan out when the masses get them. I know the R&D bikes for the owners/developers work good(or at least they should!!) Its when the silly end user tries to use stuff;)

Ha! :face-icon-small-hap No, you will not be buying one Nick..... I know you better than that. You will be building one!!! With your own custom tweeks and R&D. Reminds me of our early Turbo sled days. Keep us posted.

According to Boondocker video on youtube, no engine modification is required.
Wonder how they're able to crank 100+ hp with stock compresion and stock clutch?
Do they run pump gas?
I might be wrong but Kawazaki run roller bearings on the big end connecting rod. This is less sturdy as preassure lubricated plain bearings such as in the KTM.
Any long term reliability issues on boosted Kawis?

Are you saying the 500EXC doesnt have a roller bearing on the lower connecting rod ? It looks like its still a roller that is pressure lubed as compared to the KX splashed lube. I would think the bearing is just as strong in the KX no ?

From 2012, KTM came with a new engine. The 450 and 500 is more or less the same except displacement.
Here's a pic of the 2012 KTM connecting rod. As you see it uses plain bearings on the connecting rod, just like a Yamaha Nytro ;-)
High oil pressure is also a benefit where some turbochargers need 2-3 bar of oil for lubrication.

Correct, but big end of connecting rod has pressurised lubing.

I don´t say that roller bearing won't work, I just think they are less reliable when you run double hp.
Maybe boondocker have done R&D that shows that it works?

Some models are back ordered

Anyone get their BD kit yet? How was install? Any runtime yet?

New due date for the KTM SX is Nov 11. We will see.

No doubt Allen has the most time on a turbo KX.
His comments have been that the bike starts harder and different from hot to cold.
Recommends ONLY race fuel.
Service requirements are increased!!!
Throttle position needs to be pre-determined a few seconds ahead.
