Boondocker Race Gas Setup on M8

OK, so I'm getting ready to bolt on the Boondocker Race Gas Turbo onto my 07 M8.

What should I be running for clutch springs, helix, and weights? I normally ride 7000'+.

What are some good starting numbers on my control box with stock jugs?

What are some good starting numbers on my control box with RKT ported jugs?

Everything will be stock on the sled except for maybe the jugs. I can't seem to find anybody that wants to buy my ported jugs and give me their stock ones in return so I might just have to run the turbo with the ported jugs.

I had the same sled without the ported jugs, the porting might be a problem. I ended up running a speedwerxs H5 165/310 primary spring, 75-85 gram cutler IT adjustables @ about 80 grams, a cutler orange secondary spring, cutler secondary torsion conversion with 38/46 helix. The M1000 060 belt seems better but the for the price 046 was what I ended up running most of the time.

I have my old starting numbers written down at home so I can get them for you. You can also call Jerrod or Junior @ BD, they with have the most current numbers. Are you running a new RG kit or an older one?

I had a pump gas twisted kit on one of my 07 M8 sleds. It was ported by Linderman. It ran fine. No problems.

I'm not sure what year it is but I bought it used off of Snowest. So it's an older one.

The big question is does it have an ADA box or the old box. Send a PM to SnowJW and I am guessing he can give you starting numbers either way.

Mike,

If it was me, I'd try to trade cylinders with someone. I'm sure you could get a few bucks extra for a set of MPM ported cylinders compared to stock, but with the turbo you don't want to keep the porting, it doesn't work well together.

After I talked to you today I called Boondocker. Jared claims the ported cylinders would well with turbo.

Honestly bro, if they can give you numbers that will work well with that setup, GO FOR IT!! I just don't want to see you having to deal with a tuning nightmare & frustrated all year. I've never run a turbo with full porting, so I'm just going by what many people have said about the combo.

If they seem confident (oh yeah... Boondicker is ALWAYS confident, whether their crap works or not!! :D) that it'll work well, save the hassle & slap the turbo on!

You know, you can ALWAYS swap them later if it doesn't work well together, not too big a deal.

I'm just hoping it's a ripper but not a headache for you, nobody wants to tune while on a trip for the weekend!

Here's what boondocker recommends for clutching:

Arctic Cat Black Primary Spring
75g Big Dog weights
36/46 helix
Stock primary spring

What do you guys think? He claims thats the setup they run from 3000' to 10000'.

I have the Cutler 70 to 80 gram weights. When I mentioned having them to Boondocker their response was - "get the big dogs because we know they work". Anybody have any experience with running the Cutler weights with this turbo?

Thanks guys. I had already ordered the clutching from Boondocker for what they suggest. The kit included Big Dog adjustables.

One reason they insist on big dog weights, they sell them. Cutler's will work great. They work great on my turbo. Are the big dog weights they sell adjustable or no? 3000-10000 feet is an enormous range. I wonder if they can clutch a sled from 0-28000 feet and climb everest with it too. Lol:)

Sorry. I looked again and you are running the race gas set up. If you are running around 9 psi or more boost, get the cutler 80-90 gram weights.

Clutching

I run a complete different set up and have been happy with it for many years. I tried the multi angle helix and hate it but that's me. I would run about 80G heavy tips of course my weights my new loadable go from 76 -84 and a 185/285 primary spring straight 44 .

When you run into some one on a turbo and he is kicking you butt and will not tell you why he is probably running my clutching.

must over rev

Man you would leave a lot on the table with 75 G weights. The lightest I have put in a M8 was 78 heavy tips .

mmsports - i wish you would have responded earlier. i would have bought my clutching from you.

the big dogs i bought are adjustable. i believe from 67g-83g.

i'll give this clutching setup a try this year and if I'm not happy I'll be giving you a call.

Thanks,

Mike
