ok i have a choice i can get a new boondockers side mount, or i can get a mcxpress rear mount for really cheap, i mean cheap, which should i go with? both 28 series and this will be going on a apex. i dont care about big chutes, just trees, sidehilling some climbing not monster s or anything like that but i do like highmarking my friends will the mcxpress be really laggy sense it's rear mount?

Which kit has the nearest support? Who's doing the install/setup? Unless your into drag racing, I wouldn't worry about lag. I have the MCX 260 kit and I'm very happy with it.

im doing the install, nearest support would be me pretty much, not worried about install or about service wanting to know the performance difference

I'm pretty much to the point that if it's got a header I don't want it. I'd go MCX specially if its a newer updated kit. The MCX will have a bit of lag but after a bit of riding you won't even notice it just keep feathering your throttle. IMO the rear mount systems make for better weight distibution on the sled as well, the front end has a lighter feel than a front mount. JMO.

Um, all these sleds have headers......stock or not.

When did MCX start using a Garret turbo?

If I was to do it all over again, I would consider an MCX. But, I cannot stand the lag my front mount has over our Nytro. Let alone a rear mount.

There is lag when riding. The more your into the throttle, the less there is. But slow going through the trees, you will notice the difference.

However, that being said. I really think there is something to be said about the balance with the rear mount. Also, the new altitude compensator MCX has is kick butt.
I like my Boondocker kit by all means, but if they were both in front of me with the same cost..........?

Ditto... After running the Boondocker on the Apex for the third year and MCXpress on the Nytro I would look a lot harder at the MCXpress

I have a MCX on my Apex and it really has been flawless since i installed it. I have 2300km under boost and not one issue with the kit. Runs super clean and is bullet proof. I don't really notice the lag, its pretty snappy. The front mounts make more power but i need a sled that goes and comes back out of the backcountry everytime. MCX has the Apex fueling dialed !

In my opinion I would look at the boondocker for several reasons 1 the efi controller on the mc is not adjustable if you are lean or rich anywhere there is no adjustment. 2. Also from working on them the mc looks fancy but consider that all your lines are a long way away like your coolant and your oil lines, if a line is going to rub through it is going to happen somewhere along way under your seat. 3. also your charge tubes are longer which is going to give you more lag and more chances for boost leaks. 4. your intake is right beside your exaust and back where all the swirl plugs off your intake flow with snow. 5. your exaust sounds way better on a boondocker!! 6. The intercooler attaches alot better and easier on a boondocker.

these are just off of the top of my head but just what I have experienced with both. Also the instructions on the boondocker are good until you go to attach all your vacuum lines and route your transducer then they are not so good. But once you get that done you are away.

I know the MC is far more popular on this forum but most of the guys I ride with run boondocker and have had no problems at all.

I'm a nobody, but i have a boondocker kit and all i do is add gas, ride. It has been flawless and consistent. my only problem has been bad fuel.

has anyone taken there mcxpress and bypassed the controller used a manual controller then bought a efi controller? or use the one the mcx has that u us a laptop for?

I like my bd kit, but I dont run there box. I run the pl and have had good luck with it and its simple to tune. The sled is very clean running and makes awsome power and sounds bad azz. The oil return line they give you is junk other than that the kit worked out good. The mcx is a great kit as well, a friend has one and has good luck with it.I think the power comes on smoother with the bd having a little less lag, others might contest. The weight distribution is different with both kits and thats obvious. Some think its better to have some weight to the rear but i cant see why you would want weight on the rear of the sled causing it to wheelie more on a steep climb. Any way there both great kits you will like what ever one you choose.

You can use what ever efi controller you want (Boondocker, pure logic...). The only problem is you won't be able to use the auxilary injectors with out using the mcx controller. I don't know if that's much of a problem if your not going to be running higher boost levels and don't need the auxilary injectors.

with the mcxpress kit if i had a new controller with out there controller can i run 18lbs with out the aux injectors

i can hook my laptop up to it and change the fuel mapping, and create differn't maps for sled
