Boondocker - Oil Tank Catch Can D800

So I finally got the EBC installed and calibrated this weekend and had the chance to go test things (still no PTP button....I wonder if they really exist?), for the most part everything worked better than I expected. The one exception was the catch tank. I had to roll my sled over and while upside down, oil pretty much flowed unobstruced out the vent hole on the top of the tank. I was skeptical of this from the start when I installed it but Kyle from BD assured me on the phone it would not happen due to the baffles in the catch can. Not sure if they tested this, my guess is no

I realize the obvious solution is to not roll my sled, unfortunatly with the Turbo on it I'm pretty sure this is ruled out. Does anyone have experience with this and a possible solution? I want to cap it with a one way valve but I'm not sure if this will create a vacuum issue. Any thoughts? In the meantime I suggest not rolling your sled if you have a BD catch can, unless you like the idea of being covered in oil.

I put a bud light bottle cap on mine. Had to pinch the cap a little here and there to make it stay on. I am pretty sure that it is still capable of breathing. I never looked to see if it leaked oil as I rolled out of holes 3-4 times throughout the day. I guess I should go see.

I was told that if you overfill you will get oil, how much oil do you have in it? Let me know, thanks Diann

Diann - I would guess that I put in about 1/2 a quart, it was just at the full line on the dipstick. The sled was uphill on it's side for some time before I could roll it over so maybe the oil was able to drain into the catch can. For now it sounds like any good domestic bottled beer is the fix. Let me know if you come up something better....maybe Heinikin or Corona. By the way and word on when the PTP button will ship?

I have ran without the can (just the hose) and never had it leak so the top of the can does not need a cap. Infact I can toss the tank around in the air without it leaking but if I do overfill it a little it will leak till the oil lever goes down a touch.

What about running a rollover check valve in that location.

That right there is what you need.

If you use a one way valve(as some turbo builders do) Depending on what way you install it, either it won't allow pressure to exit the tank(it will come out somewhere else) or it won't stop oil flow. The third thing it will do is stop the oil from flowing from the overflow back into the tank.

Already been through all of this on my own build.

Use a rollover valve, and forget about it.
