which exchaust works better the though tunnel into the driver or the side panel one ????????????

I have an '07 1000 that we started with the tunnel dump...I'm going to a side exit because 1) the feedback from others (including Brad & Shain) is that it's better and 2) I have personally experienced bog issues when in the powder.

Though I am very much not wanting the extra volume, I don't think there's another way to get it to work right.

people are always talking about a quieter solution for turbos, is there a reason we can have a more substantial muffler, it is a excess pressure thing, or space requirements...I have a hollow flo through can off the back of my aero, kind like a diesel muffler, anyways my ears were ringin after a day of ridin..i was thinkin of putting 2 stroke silencer packing in it, the FMF stuff that you use to re pack dirt bikes..do you think it will cause problems???

Neither - route it into the tunnel in front of the footrest and it will be quiet as stock and never pack with snow. I'm hoping this will be available soon from Boondocker because it really works!

Also, for some reason the 1000 seems to be more sensitive to backpressure, even the stock sleds are more sensitive if the exhaust gets too much snow against the outlet. Bret Rassmussen (who I think first suggested this idea) showed me a pic of his turbo 1000 buried up to the handlebars in snow and it was still running just fine!

Mine dumps through the tunnel and have never experienced any backpressure problems. Third year and running strong in all conditions.

There's a picture of it here part-way down the page: http://www.boondockers.com/newproduct.htm It's a 2 piece design with a small can to quiet it even more. Unfortunately it's not shown installed on the sled. The ball/socket joint is where it turns in towards the tunnel just in front of the footrest - requires cutting some holes (in front of footrest and tunnel), but this is unbelieveably quiet and has never plugged!

I have the boondocker's original tunnel dump on my '07 M1000. I can testify that in deep powder, it absolutely has a problem with back-pressure and that's why I am looking for another solution (a different dump location in the tunnel or a side exit with some sort of muffler) so I would be interested to know what happens with this "new" design.
