Bolt size for bulkhead replacement - 07 REV

I'm replacing the bulkhead of my 07 REV. I've seen some people using bolts and some people just using the rivets. I've decided to go the bolt route but am unsure about the actual size of bolt to use. I bought a bag of 1/4 -20x3/4 (grade 8), at the recommendation of the mechanics at a local doo shop, and they are a tad too big. Should I drill the holes out a little or should I get the smaller bolts? What size??

When I did mine last fall I did the 1/4 bolts and stavic rivets also. You pretty much drill all new holes per the skidoo replacement instructions. Idea is the old holes may be stretched out from your impact that is causing you to replace the nun in first place.
