Bobcats Or Cougars?????

We see them out here in NB around the neighborhood every year, but never out sledding.

The cedar river watershed is full of them, bears too.

Is the Cedar River Watershed just south of Northbend and off limits to the public?

Yep, SE of North Bend. Off limits to everyone (unless your in the Muckleshoot tribe, open to hunting for them) Rattlesnake lake is where the main entrance is. I was back there this past summer with a graduate student from the UW tracking cougars. We saw 5 bears driving around in just one afternoon and lots of huge elk. He was able to locate 2 cougars that day.

Saw a bobcat on the side of FS 70 at Greenwater a few years back while I was on a sled, had to do a double take.

Saw a VERY BIG cougar cossing HWY 410 just inside MRNP in the middle of the day in July a couple of years ago. Talked to some rangers who said he must have been feeding on a recent Elk road kill.

HAHA Ice Cap. I have seen a bobcat in my backyard before and got really close to it before it bolted. I usually never see anything but the occasional big raven when riding.

Had a Bobcat dart right in front of me in the Clockum once. I saw the tracks and hey were heading into an old abandoned car that someone took into the mountains and shoved off the road down an embankment. I have seen there tracks a bunch but only one visual.

Seen 2 cougars up in greenwater, both times on the 70 road bypass, once in the summer and once in the winter, just a glimps. Saw some huge tracks up near greens pass last year, still wondering what they were big, and spread apart. Maybe bigfoot:) Probably a cougar running, or leaping.

Came across a Bobcat over at Fish Lake 4 years ago , he was not scared and we watched him for 15 mins or so. Pretty cool to see:)

We see bobcat near fish lake, and yea they are not too afraid. Have some pics on my friends computer.

Here is a very poor pic of the Dirtyface cougar, look to the right (10’ next to cottonwood trunk) of the center deer and notice the face in the woods one pic it is there and the next gone!

I had a cougar bolt across the trail between me and my buddy on bikes in Teannawa. We were on bikes in the summer but I have seen his sign around the erea many times. Dam thing is big!

cougar...

I had a decent sized cougar run in front of me on my sled up at MT Baker a few years back, probably about 30 feet. Scary thing was he was only 1/4 mile from our camping spot had to keep a biug fire goin that night... :)

Had a wolf cross in front of us at the Goat Creek snopark between Winthrop and Mazama - Thanksgiving weekend 2008. My first thought was coyote - but it was much to big - and corrected myself a half second later. Wildlife cameras have been used up Twisp Valley to confirm the wolf pack is there.
