my shop manual says to run 66s for 0-2000, im at 1500 and i need to run 64s for proper rpm.

i think blue river is 6500-6700 so i would need 60s but if i go by what im running now i would need 58s.

what does everyone run on their 700cfi motors in 6000-8000ft?

What RPM are you seeing with the 64 vs 66? I am hitting 8000RPM with my 66s at 2000' but might go to 64s to get a couple hundred more RPM.

I would run the 60s at 6500". At 8000'+ I use the 58s and run 8100+RPMs

I would start with 58 grams. I ran 58s in my '08 700 RMK when it was stock, at 8-10K, but it was on the heavy side. I think 57 grams would be about right for those conditions (8-10K).

I ride around 5000 to 6000 and only pull about 7900rpm with 60g. I'd go with 58's.

Edit: The spot where I was only pulling 7900rpm was about 7500 feet elevation. This thread got me thinking maybe I was higher up than I realized. You'd probably be just fine with 60's.

yah well the huge problem is that im just going off what some one told me.... i know with 64s i was 8100-8200 max 8300......i never road it with 66s but my dad said it was low....how much he was actually watching or if he reset the max and then seen what is was i dont know all i know is he put the 64s back in it for me. My sleds at the cabin which is where my parents live so i have to go off what he says im going to go there this weekend to see whats up....but i think im going to trade the 66s for 58s...the guy im going with said he has 60s if we need to change.....i road the first couple months with 62s in it and it was fine so i would rather be a bit light than heavy and not pull full rpm....its easier for me to let back on the throttle for a day and change them to 60s than be pissed i dont have light enough weights for the full week.

600 rpm for 2 gr of wt seems like a lot should be 150 to 250 rpms, check your belt deflection

another thing is my belt blew after the 66s were installed, it was running sweet apparently with the 66s then put a new belt on and then the rpms dropped so went back to 64s with the new belt. the old belt had probably..........? well sled has 2600 on it and i think it originial

that's odd that your rpm's dropped with a new belt. the 115 will drop rpm's as it gets worn. you probably should give your clutches a good once over to address your rpm issues - check the bushings and buttons, clean everything up good, replace the drive and driven springs and then get back to clutching.

My 700 runs 66g at 1100 feet and will overwind to 8300 on hardpack and leaned out with a PC 5.
With 11-66, it runs 8200 without a controller but runs slower speed wise.
At Cooke, it runs 60g with a 40 deg finish on the helix, otherwise 58s with the stock Team clutch/helix.
19/41 gears help a lot on a 700. My other 700s would pull 56s at 10,000ft and 58s at 8000ft.

i found out its cause i used a ultimax Kevlar after i blew a polaris Kevlar, softer compound making the rpm drop
