Man this realy sucks....... went out for A short ride today Had A short climb 200 yards about 3 times the sled ran kinda funny on the lat one I shut it down checked all the fluids and went on my way about 3 miles to the next play spot hit the throttle she shook hard and had a big missfire a huge vibration and died started once with a missfire shut it down big spot of oil towed it back got it home and in the garage on the hoist and the conecting rod is at the bottom of the bulk head and a big f.....ing hole in the Block. I dont get it 12.5--13 on af gauge on 14lb boost on 114 race fuel wtf. So how much is this going to cost. Oh yea the intake on the turbo damaged to!!!!!!!!!!!! Sled has a pl box wideband o2 Aem boost gauge and a Knock box.

Wow, that really sucks man. What all was done to the motor. Wonder if a bearing let loose. Keep us updated once you figure out what happened.

could be a bunch of things dropped shim from valve springs, did cam timing wrong.unusual for the connecting rod to go with so few miles on unless some thing made it fail like something falling in the cylinder.possibly broke a valve which fell in the cylinder that would cause it to shutter before the boom.was it your exhaust side or intake side of the turbo that got damaged would think it would be exhaust side.how many miles have you put on since the turbo.full motor rebuild if done by a shop probly 4000-5000$ if it has major damage.sorry to here this man :(

I have not removed the turbo yet but damage was to the intake side I almost wonder if it was ice that caused it I remember darko had this issue a few years ago now that I think about it I thought I heard something going tink tink at a cruise speed 6000 rpm no boost I guess the thing I dont get is that it ran fine and then BANG I think I will suck it up and see if I cant get Dustin At Outlaw to fix it wow this is sure a high dollar sled now

Look at the bright side, at least now you'll have Carillo Rods and low comp pistons. Make that sled into a fully built animal.

from what I know of 4 stroke you should have been looking for 11.5 to 12:1 A/F ratio doing think sled engines are different that auto. My supercharged 383 stoker in my car is at the above ratio for 15 psi. And that is EFI also carbed I think they look for 11.5

How many miles on the motor with the work that was done?

When you pull the head off, check for valve damage,if you have a valve that is missing, then it was a valve that dropped,( shim issue ) if it just bent the valve then the rod let go first.

by the way,,,,that sucks

I ran mine at 13-14 on the air/fuel, never had a problem, in fact, was told that is what is needed to be. Lower is rich right? Or am I wrong?

Man, that really sucks. If it's been done a while it probably isn't an install problem. Probably detonation, check your other cylinders for signs of deto. Like Linc said you will know if the valve dropped or is bent. You might want to also check your turbo in case a piece of impeller went through, not sure how the BD intercooler setup is as that might catch it. Higher charge temps and lean A/F will increase risk of deto but I would have thought the knockbox would catch that. Oil or coolant loss could have also been a factor.

Sounds to me like the shim did not get put in the bucket right how many miles did it make after all the work??? Most make it 30-80 if that is the case.

the sled had 400 miles on it last year with A boondocker box. This year has a Pl box on it and now has 540 miles on it It was never run as a stock sled. This fall installed the ez ryde and new pl box, tunnel and a new wibeband.

that sucks

could have just been a bad rod, the law of large numbers says not all things are perfect. it may have done it if the sled was stock. but do tell when you figure out what failed and why if there is a defineable cause.. julio
