blown carb boot... aftermarket??

So I blew out a carb boot on my t-xp like I have never seen before. The stealership wants like 170 per boot. Are there any aftermarket options? Would you guys stay with stock and get plates for them? Looking for some advice.

ya ok...i have heard your idea now. aluminum carb boots. looks like we will probably try it.

problem right now is by the time you get the updated boots and plates.. shes not exactly free..

me might be able to build a set for pretty cheap out of alum.. might not be the most scientific thing on the planet, but when your only spending $20 on it, beats the $300++ for new boots and plates, so we might be giving it a shot.

The only problem I can see with an aluminum piece, is it may tranfer too much vibration through to the carbs and cause the fuel to foam. You can use Aluminum on efi sleds, because the fuel is not sitting in the throttle boddies.
I do believe that people have tried Aluminum boots on the XP already, with poor results?

Gus tried the aluminum and shelved the idea because of foaming! New boots and steel plates and i have had no issues.

Boots cost me $146 apiece when mine blew. Builder sent the plates as an update. Been running 9-10 lbs w/ no problems. They even held at 14.

is every one runing the turbo performance reinforcment girdles? does any one else make a reinforcment plate for the 800r?

Mine is a plate that keeps the boot from delaminating and came from Peak Powersports. Do the Turbo Performance girdles offer more support or do they basically do the same thing. Wouldn't mine something that offered some support to the boot itself.

I have ben useing the turbo performance girdles. it is just a flat plate that goes around the base of the carb boot where the bolts go through the boot into the block.
Carb boots still delaminate. I went through one at the end of last year. One this year. I put a bunch of the e6000 glue on the carb boot and girdle and put the one carb boot back on. it worked for a few days, but I believe it tore again. I have to pull it apart. I have two brand new carb boots I just got.
I havn't seen the peak power sports reed boot girdles. I don't know if they are the same, different, or turbo performance girdles.
Last year i used the boysen turbo reeds in the stock cages with no problems all year. this year I wanted to try the rage cages with turbo reeds. hopeing for better throttle responce and was hoping since the rage cages go up inside the carb boot it would reinforce it and hopefully carb boot last longer. I had one rage cage reed chip after awhile. replaced it. took it apart recently and another rage cage reed was chiped and torn. I just got a new set of reeds from boysen free under warranty. Going to put the new set of reeds in and new reed boots and see how it works.

X2 !!! I put the rage cages in as well. They seal boost in the aluminum body and not in the bottom of the seam of rubber. Also run a fine line of E-6000 around the lip of the aluminum tongue before you slide it into the boot. It all fits air tight. I think my boot problems are done.

for some reason the race fuel is making the rubber become weak. we have been working on billet aluminum ones since 2009 and just could not get enough flexability in them to put the carbs in right. but i think we got it this time and are working on the last proto types before we make a run.

boyseen rage cages are working to help because the fuel touches less of the rubber area. but will rub a hole in the rubber and reeds dont last as long because they bang together to much.

i hate r&D Sometimes!!!:heh::loco::face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-sad:Cry::first:

has anyone tried v-force i would think the carbon fiber would chip easier but i dont know? everyone running spacers because I heard the reeds hit the ports under boost when they open that much

For the past 2 yrs the crankshop has had aluminum manifolds for the xp right on the website.
One customer using them on his with a smile all year..

you guys gotta come out from under your rock..lol

they come set up for big carbs ..I make new couplers for your carb size or sleeve them down with tube or hose.. ( for my customers )

dont tell the aero queens,, they know it all ..LMAO ALL YR LONG !!!!!:behindsofa: :director::director: did they even ever make it to a race or even a round of racing ??
