Just a notice that the tree huggers will be out in force February 23: Annual Hog Loppet . Use only Klotz or Polaris Gold as the smoke smells the best! This is the weekend for the Hog-lop-it cross country ski race. They will infiltrate the motorized snopark..Dont you dare park in theirs!
if you are going tp Blewett be in there before 7:30am!! after that there will be some yahoo that parks in the turnaround area and both sides will be full before 8:00am.

You will get a lot of snubbed noses that day as you go by some of them...which always amazed me as it is the local Apple Valley Snowmobile club that breaks the trail for them and grooms it from the Beehive area to Haney Medows. Same snowmobilers that save their azzes when they get hurt and pack them out on their sleds..all vollunteers.

I dunno, I came across that group about 5 years ago.....3 of us were almost over to the Beehive Res and took a break about on of the viewing areas looking north. A group stopped that included a nice old gent that had retired as the Dean of the Wentachee Community College....We talking a long time about things in common, he asked for one of my O'Doul's (I since when thru Rehab and again drink the real stuff!!!) and offered me some of his lunch...We got along just great...

I have been thru that race /parking zoo many times.Go friday night,ride sat till about 4 pm.Everybody will be gone.Just make sure you take a right head for lion rock and the good stuff.Lots of law on sleds,go slow up the road if youre to slow to get an early start:beer;

One more reason !

One more reason not to ride over there, Small parking lot and tickets on the hwy if you are to close...

Just keep heading east.......Wyoming east !:D:D:beer;:beer;:beer;

Last year those azzhats built a fire right in the turn around and left the mess there when they left. When riding past, them being rude is an understatement.

Isn't there a skinny ski only system just down the rode a bit??

An Unbelieveable X-country skier

I had an incident about 5 years ago with those pricks. Now, I've ALLWAYS ridden as close to the shoulder as possible opposite of the skiers. Suppose to meet friends at Haney Meadows and while going by this one guy, he stuck his pole straight at me at my neck and the only course of action I had was to grab it. I was going about 10 mph. He wouldn't let go of his pole and neither would I knowing that my wife was right behind me. After dragging him for about 100 feet, I couldn't manage to get the pole away and as my wife went by, he stabbed her with his pole right in the collar of her jacket penetrating a big hole in her jacket and luckily not her NECK. This was the most unbelieveable thing I've ever witnessed and been a part of in my whole life. It took about 10 skiers holding me back from beating the crap out of him. In 25 years of riding the only problem have been dirty looks and I've ALLWAYS Given them the right of way and have ALLWAYS went by very slow.
When we got to the meadows there was a large group of skiers who were very sympathetic to us and even giving us his name, etc. but the law on their summits took a report, saying the couldn't arrest him even though there were witnesses and my wifes coat collar obviously stabbed and a huge scratch on her neck. Thank God, she was only scratched. The cops said that we should have just stayed away since there were 500 skiers that day.
The cops did NOT arrest and the prosecutor didn't even get a report. This was a completely UNPROVOKED incident. Believe it or not, but my attitude has always been that non-motorized have first right. I was as far to the right side of the trail as possible and going 10 mph with a skier in the middle of the trail.
My advice would be that this loose cannon is still out there most likely and I would stay away from this area as the law seems to be on their side even when they attack. Or maybe they're to lazy and just don't care.Thank You. Dave

I too had a similar experience with a skier. He tried to stab me with his ski pole. I was on the far side of him going very slow but it still seemed to piss him off. I had my pistol with me so I let it go, I didn't want thing to get out of hand. I'll be up there this weekend without my firearm so I hope it doesn't happen again. Some of those skiers are pretty aggressive.

As shocking as the experience was, I still find it even more shocking that the man went completely unpunished by the cop on the summit and the prosecutor who didn't even get the report. The cop contended that since he didn't see it happen, he couldn't make an arrest. The stab mark on the collar and scratch on the neck from the pole didn't matter.

That sucks! I think if you told them firmly enough that you wanted to press charges for assult they would have had to do some paperwork. ORV Sheriffs probably didnt want to have to change there plans that day.

That would be called Yamalube :>)

There is a complete ski park just a road further south on Highway 97..there is even a huge open area that they could stage their event.

When I was on the board for the Snowmobile club I had talked to the DOT that owns the property in the parking lot to see what it would take to expand it as bit...a few 27ft motorhomes with 4place enclosed and the lot is full! Technically there is no Camping allowed there but it isnt enforced either...long story short they dont want any more snowmobiles there as they are worried about the increased saftey issue of them crossing the highway. It never made sense as I dont know many that would go back across to the west side of the road. If you were going to ride into the Navaho you wouldnt park there anyway but it is doable with 6 extra bumpy miles added on to the trip.

Yes...many times I have seen cars there and in the turn-around that dont have snopark passes....cell phones wont work there but they will up on the Lions Rock Ridge. Last year We had a Subaru wagon that parked about a foot from the back of my trailer..and someone else had backed up to the front of my truck so I could not even pull out...we had to muscle the trailer out and then get the truck out to get rehooked up and load up...I hope LesSchwab took care of the low air pressure problem in his tires!

Are the little places just to the north of the 2 main parking lots legal to park in?
I've only parked there twice and not got a ticket but have been since told you'd be ticketed.

a good friend of mine calls them clickers - that's the sound they make when you ride over them......
I'm NOT advocating doing that, just some sick humor....

That would be a big NO...they used to be OK but in the last few years new signs have been posted that say 15min parking only...thats the down fall of Blewett..minimal parking. DOT is worried about sleds crossing the highway there as there is minimal visability for a driver or sled there...had to cross in dense fog one time..Always someone driving a car in fog with no headlights on as well....gets the heart and throttle going faster then normal.
