Blewett HD Vid - Pow and Blue Skies 4/10/2010

Wow! Nice video. Looked like a sweet ride. Just went ridin gold creek yesterday (4/17/10), it was good but had to ride alot of dirt. And after about 11:00 the snow was Mashed potatoes. But you could go anywhere you wanted practically except the big hills like the super bowl.

Once again nice video, you've had some pretty good rides this year judging from your videos, timing is everything. On the tether fail was it throttle fail as well or was it steeper than it looks on the video? I was suprised to see how far the sled ran out after the dismount. Never been to Blewett, after seeing your video it looks like it may be worth the extra drive if the conditions are right, thanks.

Thanks!

Yep, all good rides. Really, it takes a lot to make a ride lame...1. someone gets hurt 2. or it rains.

From what we can tell on throttle, the lefty hit the tree, rolled the throttle down and back around the handlebar just enough to pull the throttle cable, and then it took off. The people standing at the bottom of the hill said it scubbed a lot of speed on the last jump before hitting the tree, the damage was light compared to what it could have been. Broke shock, arm, plastic, hood, but haven't heard if they tore into the damage yet to find anything else. Plus don't forget the fact that Polaris don't have tethers (at least this one didn't)...I'd recommed the upgrade! Mine has saved the sled more than once. As for Lefty's, ditch em, causes more bad than good, learn to ride without it.

I did have footage from another camera, but had issues importing the video and gave up for this round.

Thanks for the info, ya ditched the lefty's years ago, I've seen too much carnage caused by them and a few that could have been real bad.

Few of us had a great day up at Blewett last weekend. A bit of carnage to boot.

nice video...I came down with a sprained wrist and kept my arse home that weekend..Agghhhhh!

In the vid...what causes the drop off or roll off on the left and right of the frames..makes every where you went look like a ridge top. Not sure if I am explaining this well. Video makes the left and right look like they are sloped down hill and the trees are even angled....is that a trick effect in editing or just the type of lense?

Lame, you missed a good weekend!

"Fish Eye" effect. The wide angle lens causes that distortion. The camera is the ContourHD 1080p (not sure if the GoProHD has the same effect), I run it at 720p @ 60 Frames per Second, it makes for a 135 degree view. Running at 1080p @ 30 Frames per Second makes for a 110 degree view (the fish eye isn't as bad). Since I like the wider view, play back is smoother and slow-mo is smoooth, the fish eye is a side effect. Maybe I've looked at the videos so much during the edits I don't notice it anymore.
