Blew another QuickDrive belt

I blew a belt near the end of last season, took it in to the dealer and they found my jackshaft and bearing needed replacing under warranty so they gave me a new belt under warranty. I have been on 3 trips to the mountains since then, and on my most recent one I blew the belt on the last day of the trip, on the way up the fresh groomed trail. I had stopped to wait for my buddys to catch up, when I went to take off I feathered the throttle like I always do so the clutch engages softly and immediately heard the belt strip. Luckily I carry a spare, replaced it quickly and rode the rest of the day. I'm taking it back into the dealer this week to have it checked over. I noticed on this trip that I started to hear a 'clunking' noise when I would brake going down hill so I wonder if my jackshaft isn't pooched again?

Something seems to be going on. I have almost 1900 miles total, 1200 turbo'd on my 13 on the original belt.

Did you do the 100 mile break in limiting full throttle and keeping speed below 45? Since you fitted it last season it was probably the old version of the belt too. '14 versions are stronger.

Running at speed on the trail generates lots of heat. Stopping let's it heat soak on the hot top pulley. That said, I got 150 miles on the first QD belt. Wasn't very gentle the first 100 miles. My second belt I fully broke in and it has 800 hard miles on it now.

That sucks man, but I bet something is wrong. I've got over 1200 miles on my '14 and still on the original belt...

Probably got some heat problems. If your jackshaft and bearing are toast again look up some Geo fixes.

14 belt is better also.

I expect if your 14 belt is going to fail, it will be this time of year. The set up conditions and with 1000 to 2000 miles on these machines, the belt will be stretched a bit.

The problem is that the belts will have their cogs stripped because there is not enough contact with the top pulley and if it rides up at all, the problem will be worse. (due to stretching)

The well designed after-market belt drives have this problem overcome by wrapping the top pulley and about 75% of the top pulley is in contact with the belt at all times. This spreads the shock load over way more cogs, about 50% more cogs.

Don't really think it's a belt contact issue. CMX has been out successfully the longest and doesn't tension inwards.

Hopefully this guy just had the old belt get the heat sink-delamb thing that the new belt has addressed.

OP, you should make sure the top bolt and stuff are still tight. That can lose tension on your belt. Might be still warranty too if snowcheck sled.

I did the 100 mile break in. Bought my sled brand new last year, I'm fairly new to sledding and this was my first brand new one and I have made sure I follow proper break in procedures on everything. The belt I blew last year was due to the jackshaft issue. It's going in to the dealership this week so they can look everything over, I still have 3 years of warranty left. The latest one was a '13 belt, has the numbers: 3211146 USA 324A14-0 on it.

1800 hard miles on my 13 belt nd still good!! pretty sure I will replace it next year before the season. I did have to replace my drive shaft at 800 miles but no problems since that!!

I've rode 1000 miles this year so far, and it has run a total of 2500 miles on the original belt.

Changed out a total of 4! drive shafts all on warranty. The last one the shop changed out the brakedisc and top pulley aswell. Hope it holds toghter now.

I see no belt problem just a mechanical engineering problem with the brakedisc not contacting the bearing...
