BLACK POWDER Question?? MUZZLE HUNT!

Just bought a Colorado landowner tag, and the only tag i could get on the unit i wanted was a Muzzle. I have a older white and am looking to upgrade. What are your thoughts and experiences with the newer ones, what do you recomend. I usuallly and strictly just bow, with a little bit of rifle deer hunting thrown in but hardly ever have used a muzzle

Can't go wrong with a TC encore or Omega. My brother and I have Encores and my mother shoots an Omega. Great guns easy to clean and accurate. You can get better but you can also deffinately get worse.

What's your price range? I used to sell a lot of them so I can stear you into a good direction if I know the range, also what are your expectations for range of shooting?

I looked at the TC pro hunter, and the knight somethin, and the TC Triumph?? last night and the pro hunter was like twice the price. I wasted enough money on the tag, i'd like to keep the gun somewhat low. I really liked how the TC's had the break action though, the triumph seamed like a good one, but other than the interchangible barrels that the Pro hunter can do, is there much of a difference? I'm a sucker for big deer... never thought i'd find something that a burn more money on than snowmobiles...

Another vote for the Encore. Fantastic muzzle loader.
Thats to bad about the Sabots. There is much better bullets choices in a saboted bullet......

Good luck with your choice, and the hunt.

Another vote for the TC encore/pro hunter/endever (sp). Granted they are more expensive but how many other smoke poles can you put rifle barrels on and shoot most calibers up to a .416? Currently, a new barrel for a pro hunter is around $330, half the price of a new rifle.

You can get a base model encore or omega for much less than a triumph or Pro-hunter. Encore about 450 and Omega for about 300.

Not a big fan of powerbelts but they're pretty good just do some playing with weight and powder combo's and you can get a load to shoot well. In my experience the Blued TC's have a little tighter barrel than the stainless so you might want to go that route since you can't use sabots in CO. Powerbelts typically don't fit the barrel as tight as sabots. I would also reccomend American Pioneer powder as it is much cleaner than 777 or pyrodex. Make sure to check CO law on pelletized powder vs Granular I know some states don't allow the Pellets either.

Go traditional, that was the purpose of having special muzzleloader seasons before the inlines came out. A Thompson Center Hawken in 50 or 54 caliber with a spit patch and round ball with FF black powder......now that is hunting.

I agree if your going to use the newer stuff (pellet powder, ect) just rifle hunt like the Texans do. I use a TC grey hawk 370 Maxi-ball and 90 grains of pyrodex rs its a hard hitting mofo. Nothing has ever walked away from that combo.

I agree, I like old school better, Elephant Brand black powder and round balls. Mine doesn't like sabots anyway. My next one will be flintlock.
