my 09 was running good then i stopped and it was running.

it then shut off..started again...shut off...started again...no electric start.

and it would do it for as long as you left it.

it wouldnt move either.

we figured out that it was the reverse engageing and disengaging.

if we could blip it and get it over 4000rpm( when rer is dissabled) it would move.

now my question is...computer or switch? im thinking computer

i wanted to fix it myself since the dealer wont be looking at it anytime soon and i would like to go riding this weekend..but i doubt they would hand me a new computer

Just a shot in the dark but make sure your dess key is on properly if its not quite on right it will run but will not come out of limp mode and it beeps or maybee try another key

You got some moisture inside of you electric start/reverse switch. I have an 09 Xp and it does that on occasion. I would recomend packing a torx so that you can remove the switch and blow all the moisture out. They need to design a gasket of some sort so that snow doesn't get in there and cause problems. My riding partner on an 08 Xp had his switch burn up because of that, but his dealer covered it under warranty.

Jumping from FWD to RER

Pull the LH switch off and look at the lower half of the electrical connectors/wires, there are probably two pins with some green corrosion on them. Those are more than likely the problem, some did not come with di-electric grease, or very little.

If no corrosion there, try the main handlebar harness connection under the gauge, also looking for the green gunk. If there is nothing wrong with connections, get a new LH switch.

I had the same thing happen on my 08 XP. I had lost the start/reverse button when it started. Installed new button - never happened again. Moisture was getting down in the switch.

X4 on the switch, same happened to our Expedition. funny tho, would stop when you clicked the headlight from low to high beam. back to low beam, and it would do it again.

switch

lots of us have been there, its the switch, clean it out or change it, i have to change mine on my 07
good luck
